No connection to that Shaq crap...but is anyone else up to the idea of a new Steel film?

I will really like it if they decided to make a new Steel film. On the conditions that

  • Superman has some kind of cameo
  • It's not a complete urban film, but does have some of the urban elements of the comic
It might be hard to set this with a Superman film, since Steel first came around when Superman was dead.

My choice for the role of John Henry Iron is Henry Simmons

or Wood Harris

I wouldn't mind another crack at Steel.

spin it out of the next superman film.. it sucks that the character was divorced from the mythos in the 1st film..

I'd have Irons as a STARLabs scientist in the first Superman film and then slowly work to making him Steel from there

You need Superman to work to have a viable Steel feature. It's like trying to do War Machine without doing Iron Man.

I was just contemplating this very thing earlier today and then I come in here and there's a thread about it.

Ideally, they'd actually kill off Superman in a movie and introduce Steel the way it happens in the comics along with Superboy and the others. I think that could be a pretty epic movie. The only concern I have with Steel, is how the Iron Man movies would make him look like a cheap knock off. Just as far as the suit and powers, not the character since John and Tony are totally different. The way he creates the suit and the way it's powered and used would need to be very unique.

Tyrese Gibson. I'd like to see him tackle a superhero role.

I wouldn't mind seeing another Steel in the future, but it's definitley not one of the films I'm worried about seeing. Let's get GL, WW, Flash, Supes Reboot, and Batman 3 (and hopefully maybe a Green Arrow film as well) before worrying about any other characters (imo)

What about Terry Crews for Steel? :woot:

Steel is so far down the totem pole that I dont need to see one for decades.

Besides, the Shaq movie ruins any chance of the film being taken seriously.

I'd rather see Steel has a supporting role in a Supes film than his own film.

Michael Jace for Steel

Eh, I have to concur that Shaq pretty much took care of any chances of seeing a stand-alone Steel movie again anytime soon, let alone the absence of Superman.

Personally, I'd just introduce Irons as a supporting character (sans armor) in one or two Superman films, and then about three movies in do a minimalized 'Death Of Superman' story with Irons and Kara having to take up capes to defend Metropolis from the combined threat of Luthor, Doomsday, and an imposter Super-Cyborg made by Lexcorp from the remains of an astronaut killed in Doomsday's initial attack (and who, having seen Superman as a grandstanding media darling who's taken all the attention away from space exploration - why bother when we've already got an alien here on our own planet? - has plans of his own).

Agreed.

And I'd much rather see them get Superman and Supergirl right before they even attempt a solo Steel project.

I think if they made a Steel movie they would have to try to get Will Smith for the role to ensure a good box office, other than that I can't see the studio taking a chance with it.

I agree. You know I never really understood why WB have brought out unpopular characters like Steel and Catwoman over other more popular more interesting characters like flash, GL etc..

because Warners are cheap.

Although he is an interesting character, I agree. He wont have his own move anytime soon.

I'm with the people above. I think the best way to have a Steel movie would be to introduce him as a supporting character in a well done Superman movie. Then spin it off.

Laurence Fishbourne is my pick for Steel.

Though I don't have the imagination it requires to figure out a Steel movie without Superman, I think it's possible. Can't see why anyone would try. Plus, Steel rocks.
