The Dark Knight Rises Ideas For Incorporating Characters Into the Nolanverse

Well, taking out Gilda Dent was essential to making Harvey Dent the most tragic hero of this decade.

And to get back on topic, does anyone think a villain other than Freeze would be able to top the tragedy we saw in The Dark Knight?

yeah they focused on making him more of a tragedy, but he was kind of crazy as witnessed in the scene with the coin and the guy that worked for joker, I think eventually he would have said, well lets flip the options, heads and you die, and then just killed him.

Odd...the two main villains in The Dark Knight are the Joker (comedy) and Two-Face (tragedy). Just saw that...

Anyway, there any other tragic villains out there besides Freeze?

ra's al guhl was in the movie, his wife died, but I think the next most tragic character would be Dick Grayson.

Black Mask as a mob boss. Riddler as a Zodiac Killer almost. Catwoman as a Russian cat burglar who knows Systema (Russian Martial Art).

I know some people don't like Smallville, but the episode Mercy where Lionel Luthor is being harrassed by a masked man putting him into puzzle traps so he'll admit the truth of deliberately bankrupting a company for his own gain. Would be cool if they did that with Riddler and Gordon, have Riddler know about Dent and have him target Gordon and then Batman.

I like it... That would mean that the riddler wins because i assume (and hope) that batman is exonerated from Dent's crimes.

Not so much that Batman is exonerated but that Batman and Gordon have been exposed as a liar and isn't all that noble as people think. But the fact that he's accepted as Gotham's hero is the thing that sets him over the edge because he believes Gotham should hate Batman for lying to him but they aren't bothered, well some aren't.

I like the general idea. As for the Riddler winning and Dent's actions exposed, not so much. If Dent is exposed, Batman may be exonerated for the crimes but the people of Gotham will have no trust in him. And most likely Gordon will be forced to resign his office. And besides, this would mean that the Joker won and the good guys lost. I wouldn't really want to see a superhero movie where the superhero fails to save the day.

that episode is exactly like saw, except worse, but riddler never does anything like that.

not so much him capturing Gordon and keeping him captive just playing the mind games like the train track scene and having Gordon solve a riddle or die.

you did its called the dark knight

the next movie will be when he emerges and a hero re-wins

good will always truimph evil in one way or another

well they can and have the public be outraged by Batman and Gordon and then they have to prove that they can be Gotham's protectors.

well I don't know how they'd get out of it, cos every other thing is just lame. Would Gordon get fired for what he's done? I mean its the Mayor that appoints the Commissioner so what would happen?

Commissioner Gordon would be forced to resign his post, riots would break out in the streets, Batman would still be public enemy #1, and the U.S. military would probably have to step in. In other words, what Ra's and the Joker wanted to happen to Gotham would happen.

didnt they get involved after the rodney king incident?

I've been thinking on the Riddler, and i really think he can be done, without being like the Joker at all, but actually being opposite from him in a lot of ways. Like for instance how they drop the Joker into the action with no backstory, lets give riddler a detailed and involving origin. Lets have him be super neat and well kept, as opposed to the Jokers grimy, greasy menace. If all this makes him sound docile and lame, he can still be portrayed as highly disturbing. The way i see it, the Joker outwardly, shallowly projected chaos, he looked crazy, he talked crazy, but in the end for all his talk against planning, order, and control, what did he end up doing?methodically enacting an elaborate scheme to take over the city, all the while following through on every threat he explicitly and clearly made to the public. What if Riddler was the opposite, an outward picture of composure, order, smoothness, but in the end was a completely erratic, aimless, indiscriminate lunatic in behavior, with no real rhyme or reason other than trying t outsmart batman and the cops at any cost...................
