Thats the only reason why I think they may want Welling as well.
To satisfy the very loud, obnoxious, and very obsessive SV and Welling fans.
You forgot to mention "outnumbered"
Reminds me of the 2004 election; all the buzz was "Kerry keryr kerry"; only person you ever heard, saw, or talked about was John Kerry
But who did the majority really want?
Routh > Welling
That is the publics opinion; they just aint as vocal as these Smallville folk![]()
The original had some minor flaws, but considering what it cost, and how many people on the crew, and how long they had to make it, it was a classic. But the new one just sucked BALL$!I believe he had a meeting with Ratner, and that report having to do with Singer wanting Welling and WB wanting an unknown was just smoke.
The Fog couldn't be good because yet again it was a half ass remake of what I consider good old fashioned horror. It's the movies he choses to be a part of, in my opinion.
100% agree with you there. I think Routh and SR have a good size fan base and proably just as big as Welling and SV or it wouldn't have done what it did at the box office and DVD sales. They are just not as vocal as the SV fans. Which is why IMO you see more support for Welling over at IESB or some places. To behonest the real support is for Routh or cast someone else all together; instead of for Welling. You forgot to mention "outnumbered"

You got to remember just as well Pat that some of those people on DTS were fans of Superman Returns as well and in Amazon Superman Returns as well held the top spot for a while but just like every movie there spot drops after some time. You see most people have already brought SR (those who are going to buy it anyways) and it is running almost Non stop on HBO and Max (which more and more people are getting or already have).Y'know, I'm biased and I admit that, but I've seen the mainstream interest in SV first hand. Every time I pick up a SV magazine from B&N, the check out person says *something* to me about the show. They ask if I watch it (well duh - I'm buying the magazine - what do you think Sherlock? LOL), or they make some passing comment about a character or recent ep. Minor stuff, but it puts a smile on my face because these people are obviously fans too.
SV is the number one show on CW, which isn't saying much because... well... it's the CW, but still. It beats everything else in the ratings that they air, even their reality programming.
All six seasons of SV DVD box sets (including Blu Ray and HD) continually sit at the top of Amazon.com's best seller list for Superman titles, along with various seasons of Justice League animated series.
Dedicated to Smallville has more registered members in their forums (89,529) than Superman Homepage (6,940), The Planet (11,223), SHH (23,289) and CHUD (24,112) COMBINED!! K-Site alone has 39,406 registered users.
Even when the general public is polled on the SR vs SV issue, the results can be eye-opening.
People can plug their ears and stick their heads in the sand all they want, but it's not going to change the fact that Smallville is an extremely popular show. It's been on the air for seven seasons and is syndicated in many foreign markets outside of the US. It makes millions of dollars in revenue for Warners every year. The studio would be dumber than a box of rox to ignore the popularity of the show or its star. And apparently.... they aren't.
Once again I agree. I like both SV and SR but when ever I talk to people (comic fans and non comic fans) most are either disappointed with SV now or think it is good but not there cup of tea.I still have never heard a single person in real life say that they want Welling in the movies. Most people don't even care about Smallville anymore.
That may be vicious to say, but it's honest.
To behonest people (comic fans and non comic fans) are split on both projects. Really if people were more vocal you would see both shows almost get the same reaction and nether is better then the other. My thing is I like both the same. I may be disappointed that SV sold their show mainly on sex for the past 3 seasons (4-6) but all and all it is still a good show. SR I am disappointed on how they handled Superman having a child and leaving Earth but all and all it was a good movie.to be fair a lot of people are disappointed with SV and SR. some peopel are saying ''dude just watch the first and the last episode'' . and people were disappointed and are still with SR because it didnt have action.

Oh I wouldn't go that far its just SV has a more vocal fan support as said before. SR does have a good fan support its just most don't care to post about or find boards to talk about it. Hell the only reason why I post here is to past the time at work. And now that I am the President of my father's company I am going to start posting even less. I don't think SR is forgotten its just most don't care to publicly comment on it.Fast forward three years later, what does the public think of Bush now? I don't have a set political, but from what I have seen from the media and people based on their internet opinions, Bush doesn't seem to be as accepted as he used to be. If he really was at all. I think that relates to this too.
Fast forward three years after Routh was cast. Based from the media and people based on their opinions on the internet (which apparently counts), who do they want now?
BR = Little over 2 hour movie that people hardly remember. On the message boards? Sure. To the public? I have a lot of friends (surprising aint it) who don't read comics. Actually all of them don't. I was with them when we all saw SR. Nobody remembers how it ended.
TW = SEVEN SEASONS. Great ratings. Sure people don't know WHAT'S going on in the show, but they know the show's there. You can't deny how HUGE this JL casting war is because of him. Welling, good or bad, is getting all the noise.
Funny how things change in a couple years.
You know what's interesting?
Of all this talk about how crazy and psycho TW/SV fans are,
a lot of the posts by them I've seen have been reasonable and seem to make a lot of sense. Although, some Welling fans make me wanna just back away a little...
Now I like Routh (can't say the same for SR), but from all of his supporters I've really only seen statements like...well...that. I don't think it's really fair to attack the Welling fans when I haven't seen much reason from the Routh ones. Not saying there AREN'T any humble Routh fans, but I have yet to see really good points said besides the fact that he's already the big-screen Superman and apparently manlier than Welling is.
Personally I can go either way. I like Routh. I like Welling.

NO! I am NOT asking for SV the movie FYI.
It's not going to be Rough. Unless he can star into two films shooting at the same time, it's not him.

.
War?
What war?
Welling has always been this generation's Superman IMHO.
WB rush a Superman product to market which resulted in SR.
The role of Superman belong too Welling the day he portrayed Clark Kent on the series and just NAILED it.
Smallville the main reason I started posting in internet forums.
I am a SUPERMAN fan first and foremost.
I enjoy what Welling has brought too young Kal-ELs character, casting the guy in a major motion picture would complete the journey of an outstanding adventure.
NO! I am NOT asking for SV the movie FYI.

Y'know folks, making excuses ("SV fans are more vocal than SR fans?"), ignoring on-going data (DVD sales, gen aud polls, public interest) and doing this...

...isn't going to change things, but if it makes some of you feel better, please do. I'm not here to argue. The evidence is there. Folks can see it or not see it. It's up to them.
Lois and Clark were also pulled because the WB wanted to run the show on their network when its contract was up and rather then give up the show they killed it on purpose. Remember people much like SV S5 of Lois and Clark was suppose to have the Justice League some (including Batman) from what I hear.SV has 5 million viewers when it pulls in GOOD ratings. Fans online are vocal but the overall fanbase isn't all that big really. Hell Lois and Clark had 20.8 million viewers for an episode but lasted only 4 seasons. Only difference is being on a bigger network that expects larger fanbase. The fanbase is not that big for SV really. Ok for the CW I suppose but that's about it. The diehard SV fans act like it pulls in Heroes type numbers but it's pretty small scale actually.
She said that? What kind of statement is that? She really is more stupid than I ever thought she was...I've lost all respect for that "person" ... Not that I had much respect for her to begin with.
Yep. I'm not making it up. I may dislike her, but no way am I'm going to lie & say things like that. I'm not the type to lie about someone & frame them for that. And she post that like a year ago, so I'm not sure where it is. But I remeber her typing it. Again, I would never lie about someone even if I dislike them. I will look at the forum this week & find where she say it. But as far as I remeber, it was on the Dark Knight forum. It going to take me a while & too much time on my hands, so I will look & find it.
And she did claim he was booed at Princeton when he was there to talk about Reeve & SR.
