Most people would just go along with it. The vast majority would. Some would fight for a little while, and even after our new government's been in place for fifty years there'd be a terrorist group called like "american patriots" or something who would still be fighting just to be heard, and they'd claim that the rest of the country is all a bunch of traitors.
