No, it wouldn't be as popular. First comics don't have the audience. Second, it would take too long for the series to finish, the final 4 books were between 670-870 pages, think how long it would take for those to come out adapted as comics. There wouldn't be the fanfare if a new issue came out every month, other than every year or two.
