Now i know not all have faith him but i think even those that didn't like SR still hope a sequel could be great

So would this be the final straw ?

If you liked SR but feel enough is enough with the Donner connection would this shake your faith in Singer ?

Or do you believe Zod is the way to go ?

Please if you vote state your reasons:)

I'd rather he didn't.

If, however, he shoves Zod into a smaller Hannibal Lecter-type "Silence Of The Lambs" role where Superman finds himself in a position where he has to seek information from Zod - and with a couple of Metropolis' newly-activated SCU on hand to beat it out of Zod with Kryptonite-trimmed billyclubs if need be - I say go for it.

I don't know how, Zod lost his powers in STM II which SR is a "vague" sequel to. And, if I remember correctly- the power/ no power machine was destroyed. Meaning, I don't know how Zod could possibly get his powers back.

Thus, I don't think he's even a possible villain for any future films. I would rather Singer keep the ending of STM II just as it is, which is what I think Singer will most likely do.

The new villain, however, might have a similar introduction in the second film. In that the end of STM led into the beginning of STM II and the villains coming to Earth. Similarly, I think SR II will start with New Krypton alerting a new alien threat and then we track the alien coming to earth.

Singer may just use a Zod clone like Jax-Ur or something, which would still be a disappointment and a rehash of Superman II. Singer should go with a completely new villain, like Brainiac.

Since Singer chose to make SR a sequel of sorts to the first two Donner films, bringing Zod back will only feel like a retread, similar to the boring Lex Luthor land plot in SR.

Singer needs to knock it out of the park next time. I say bring in Brainiac, Metallo, or Doomsday. These are villians he can go toe-to-toe with, and I think that's what a lot of people want to see. Superman in some real danger.

Piggybacking off Overlord, if they want to go the Kryptonian criminal route I say bring in Jax-Ur. Perhaps add Mala from STAS, or Nam-Ek and Aethyr from Smallville.

I'll willing to wager that if Singer stays on, Zod is the villian. I know the writers made fun of Zod, but im willing to bet it's a smoke screen.

i liked Zod fine in the Donner/ Lester movie, but i say stop with the homages and just get original already. there are so much material that Singer can use, both Pre and Post Crisis, that would look so good in the movie.

if Singer uses Zod again, my faith in him will be shaken-- greatly. and right now the foundations arent that stable anymore, not after the stunt he pulled.

I dont think Singer will use Zod for ONE MAIN REASON.

If he did, he'd have to directly reference events from Superman 2 and Zod's first appearance.

It seems Singer has been trying to avoid directly referencing alot from those films and he even left Zod out of the vague history in the comics.

It looks like Zod has been Retconned.

i liked zod but i want to see superman get challenged/whooped...so bring in braniac or metallo or bizarro or doomsday...someone who is actually a SUPERvillian

I'd be fine with it if it's written well. I also wouldn't mind seeing Brainiac, Mxyzptlk, Darkseid, Mongul, The Cyborg, Conduit, The Eradicator, Metallo, or Preus. I'm pretty much open for anything as long as I'm happy with the final result. I didn't vote because I felt the poll was too vague for my response, so I just decided to write this jive instead.

Personally, I want Brainiac for a sequel, but if they used Zod, I wouldn't be disappointed.
Maybe a Lex,Brainiac, and Zod team-up.... now that would be action and a real threat.... especially the latter two.

Yes it would.

Brainiac Singer, Brainiac!

I would be dissapointed if they used Zod again. I haven't read the novelisation but dosen't New Krypton start to become Brainiac or something like that?

Bring in doomsday and have him just kill everyone.

but from what i hear at comic con, harry (or whoever) at aicn.com says that brainiac is more or less a sure thing.

well if superman returns is based on superman 1-2, and hes a huge fan of donner, wait till the donner cut comes out. i know in the RIC ZOD and his gang end up in jail.

soooo why not have braniac or some other villian come to earth , woop superman, then supes goes to ZOD for help via lector kinda way. like that one guy mentioned above.

my question is, who would be ZOD? do they get terrance stamp back?

I don't like the route SR headed but introducing e.g. Brainiac through Zod would work (for me). But it should only be Zod, not those 2 sidekicks. Just watched the 2nd movie again and Ursa and Non really don't add much to the threat. It rather takes away Zod's credibility as a known general. Zod should be smart and dangerously enough for Supes to deal with.

Also: I hope Singer and his pack don't come up with their own villains! That would suck.

What kind of information could Zod possibly know that Supes would need? He knows nothing about Earth. The only think I can think of is that Superman has to go into the Phantom Zone for some reason.

Zod should be avoided. Not because he's crap but because we have seen him before.

Give us something NEW! Something with more superhero/comicbook energy to it.

Zod would be a real disappointment. I'll still hope for a good movie, but I'd be severely bothered by the potential to use a new and kickass villain being stifled.

Honestly, I don't want to see any other Kryptonians, period. Along the same lines, I don't want to see some made-up bad guy either. The sequel needs to feature Brainiac, Metallo, Parasite or Bizarro (I'd go ****ing crazy for a Darkseid teaser at the end). Luthor needs to be in the background in more of his post-Crisis form, dealing with the rise of LexCorp and pushing his anti-Supes propaganda.

There's just no good reason not to delve into the comics for inspiration for a villain.

Basically Mister J sumed it all up perfectly. I liked SR for the most part but using Zod in a sequel would be a real dissapointment for me. Superman has such a great rouges gallery, why not use it?

Love the avater Mister J, Voltron rocks.

Much appreciated, on both counts.

If Zod is used, Singer will once again prove to me that he has no originality or true vision.
