If Spider-Man 3 had come out this year.

After watching both X-Men 3 and Superman Returns, I'm thinking that if Spider-Man 3 had come out this year as well, it would have wiped the floor with them. X-Men 3 wasn't really as good as it should have been and Superman Returns simply didn't cut it. What do you all think? If Spidey 3 had also been out this year, which film do you think would make the most money and have the best story?

Spidey would destroy them both. Superman Returns wasnt a bad movie. it didnt hold my attention really. and nothing really stood out as new and exciting for that movie.

I haven't watched Superman Returns yet, but based on both trailers, I think Spider-Man 3 would still win by many lenghts.

I thought Superman Returns was a mostly well done movie, and the only reason I pick that over Spider-man 3 is because frankly, I don't know how cramming four villains into a movie where the hero is going through a crisis is going to work.

I'm looking forward to seeing it though.

yeah, but its a good thing it's coming out next year, since there is so much attention on Pirates 2 right now. And it's a Good thing SM3 comes out a few weeks before Pirates 3 next year, because spidey will dominate for sure that way!

....actually they never should have let Brett Raetner direct Xmen 3 .... he rushed/pushed the movie to a ridiculous pace, made it purely a special effects movie and took away the unique development and makeup of Xmen characters as well as the storyline.

X3 grossed a lot of money because of the success of the two previous
two films, a huge fan base, and the mystique surrounding the Xmen
- not because of Raetner's directional work. ...

at least i now know what to expect from Sam Raimi for the Spidey-films
( though i didn't care for the train scene where so many people now knowing who Spiderman is ..)

Spider-Man 3 would have of coarse won at the box office. Singer should have stayed with X3 and finished the X-Men trilogy the right way. (X3 was a good movie though, I'm not gonna cry over it because its a good movie.) Superman Returns was a good movie though.

What's funny to me is the many threads I've seen, speaking of a "box office war" between Marvel & DC. One of my favorites was "Marvel's losing its edge & DC is getting theirs back." And yet, 4 of the top 5 highest grossing comic book movies belong to Marvel, & the oh-so-great Superman hasn't even caught up to the much-lambasted X3.

I don't see the point on this thread. using two trailers to judge a film in comparison to two whole films, it's quite ridiculous to be honest.

anyone making a point for or against the point is jumping the gun.

what happened to viewing evidence of something before jumping in.

I mean look at the last stand trailers (or earlier ones), they had the majority of people quite excited and it didn't turn out well

it's easy to sell a film based on its trailer, especially to a fan base who have been waiting for venom and the symbiote like the second coming of christ



in short, we shouldn't be passing judgement on this scale until we've seen it....

Spiderman 3 would destroy both X3 and Superman returns.Dont get me wrong,I like both movies,X3 has a lot action and entertaining but a horribly fast AND Superman is a very good movie(better than X3)but it wasnt nothing new but the Spiderman have perfect timing and a good balance of blockbuster action movie and a love/tragedy thing going and it works.Plus if it came out this year it would be beaten by POTC2.
