BvS If the Rock were cast as Captain Marvel, who would you cast as young Billy Batson?

Idk, Minnette or Butterfield but they are both 17

It's probably going to be an unknown, well, basically all actors/actresses under 16 are unknown

The Rock

They'll probably do some performance capture similar to Captain America: TFA

The Rock was just on the Today Show and the question of him playing a DC Comics character and he pretty much just said what he's been saying all along. He said that they are just waiting for writers. He said that he is really excited, then there was a little pause and he then said that the fans are really excited as well. That's about it though. So hopefully the announcement will be soon.

I would go for a young(ish) child, that way if sequel planned he can grow with that, say a 9-10-11 at most year old.

It sounds like the DC movie he is in is 99% a Shazam movie, however I think he will end up playing Black Adam. He has said BA is one his favorite characters on twitter:
Green Lantern (John Stewart) and Black Adam are my fav superheroes, but GL's already been made and stamped.
My guess is that they will announce Dwayne as a producer on the film and starring as Black Adam. Who the get to play Captain Marvel (or Shazam as they now call him) is anyone's guess.

My first thought was Black Adam. He did say the guy he was playing was a lot more vicious than Superman. Lead me to believe that he was playing a villain.

Shazam =/= Vicious

But then he said at the end...."just say the word".....is he implying say the word as in saying Shazam....or does he mean just say the word as in I'm in there?

He's a bad actor and his presence will cheapen whatever DC movie he appears in.

The Rock? He may not be a world class thespian of Deniro or Pacino status... but he is fine in the action movies that allow his personality to come through.

Why would WB bother to offer The Rock a producing credit?

Or professional creepy kid Pierce Gagnon from Looper, Extant, Tomorrowland and One Tree Hill.

Just a guess on my part based on interviews where he wanted to produce films for him to star in. He met with WB president Kevin Tsujihara last year so I'd bet they talked about stuff like this. Plus it helps sweeten the deal to secure talent by giving them a producing credit. Like it or not, Johnson is one of the biggest money makers in Hollywood right now.

In a lot of cases movies are put together and then they hire an actor to star. But in this case (If he is indeed going to be in Shazam as everyone speculates )then it sounds like this franchise was tailor made and built for him. He has been talking about wanting to be in a Shazam film for a few years now and getting him to sign on is a big get for WB.

I believe he said "Just say the word... That's all I'm saying". Shazam! That's got to be it.

Yeah, I have to agree- he has the look and he's acted in a few things already. Pierce may be a bit too young - I'd envisioned a kid about 12-13 years old, but I think he could do it. I don't think he'd be on scene all that much anyway honestly. If they do have the Rock as Shazam/Captain Marvel, he's the star and would be on camera 90% to Bill Batson's 10% IMO.

This guy looks the part... anyone knows his acting?

Ahahaha WOW!! That's a good friend of mine Cykeem White. Known him sense 6th grade. Hes my age 25...He does modeling but i don't think he has ventured into acting lol I can ask him, I haven't talked to him in a while anyways lol.

Yea that's what I'm saying...why would he say that if he's playing black Adam you know?...he's gotta be playing Shazam

^^ Because Black Adam has to say also Shazam to have his powers.

I see Johnson as Adam much more than Captain Marvel/SHAZAM. That's me. Could he play the hero part? Sure. Beyond just the wonder and naivete of Cap when it's Billy's personality at the helm the character also lends itself to humor which Johnson has the chops for. If they go with the whole Cap is a separate entity take I could see Rock playing up the whole Dudley Do Right aspect as well. Granted I've never understood that version of the character. Billy transformed makes a certain amount of sense. There's too many unanswered questions in the other take. What happens to Billy, exactly? This separate person that is Captain Marvel, does he have a history, or does he just come into being when the lightning comes down? Does he go somewhere else when Billy comes back? If so, where? There's a strangeness to that take I don't think even young kids today wouldn't find odd. Billy in control of Marvel's body is the way to go.

As for casting Billy, I'm not sure as to whom could do it off the top of my head. I think it should be an honest to Zod kid. Under 14 but older than 9. And they have to handle their lines well, so perhaps a child actor with some film or TV credits to their name. Complexion or race aren't a biggie for me, but maybe a kid that has physical features similar to the Rock if he is SHAZAM wouldn't hurt.

I still think the best damn version of Marvel/Shazam was that Superman team up short. They even had a respectable Tawney in that. The vibe of that short is overall a good template.

I told a friend of mine today that the Rock might be playing Shazam and she thought it was a remake of the Shaq movie KAZAAM. Why won't people just forget about that turd of a movie?

I don't think he's as bad as you're describing but I'm not eager to see him in any of these movies.
