If they had the money to film alternate scenes, you would think they would just go ahead and film MORE.

For example, they could have added to the Eddie Brock/Sandman meeting instead of creating a whole new alternate one... Then there's the Bernard/Mary Jane talking to Harry scene... etc etc

Is it just me, or is everyone else as baffled with Sony's creative and production approach as I am?

This could have gone in the deleted scenes thread.

But anyway, those scenes were cut/altered I am guessing for length...by adding to them, you make them longer. The problem was the scenes were too long in the first place (for the runtime Sony wanted). I mean, the movie was like 2hr and 20min (which for a movie like this, is long).

I think it was more like 2 hours and 56 minutes originally. I know they cut down 30 pages of the original script. But the MJ talking to Harry, and the alternate Venom asks Sandman for help were filmed.

The reshoots were done for time; Raimi had to cut the film down to under 139 minutes.

Some of those scenes could've been left in I think. Pirates 3 was at least 1/2 hour longer than Spidey 3(I'm not sure of the exact time but I know it was longer). I definetly would've sat through a longer Spider-man film. I mean,Titanic was how long,3 hours? And that's the highest grossing film in history. I think it could've worked for the Spider-man franchise.

Sony wouldnt allow it. They didnt want the kids to get bored.

But Pirates 3 sucked (not due to its length, but it did suck), and Titanic got all that money cause it was a movie every chick in the world loved, and was in theaters for like a year.

I am not saying I wouldn't have enjoyed a longer SM movie (I would have loved it), but you gotta remember that studios don't normally want really long runtimes for movies like this.

I know they were filmed. I am just saying they needed to be cut for length.

everyone keeps saying the Brock/Sandman scene at the park was an "alternate" scene. I think it was an "additional" scene b/c it would explain how Brock knows about Sandman's family in the alley scene.

That one LOTR movie was like 24 hours & it is #2 world-wide, sooo....
I say we really needed more fights, Symbiote Spidey, Sandman character devolpment, Venom/Eddie Brock & NO DANCE SCENES!

no I think it was alternate because he is talking to Flint in the park:

Yes. The original script for SM3 was 152 pages but they cut it down to 120 pages because they claim they didn't have the budget to produce a longer film.
