Ugh.
I wish this whole wii/motion sensor/casual gaming fad would just die the **** out.
It's not a fad, it's the future. Even the PS3 controller has elements of this.

Meh I want the Wii to die like the Zune.

i agree... nintendo took a big chance with the wii and its paying off... it might not have all the hard core gamers loving it, but... its bring alot of people that dont play video games... into playing video games. as far as nintendo goes... mission accomplished. everyone copies nintendo at some point.
The Wii just needs to up its attachment rate. As it stands right now, everyone is buying a Wii, but aren't buying alot of games for it, thats not what Nintendo wants at the end of the day.
true, but givin its at the early years of its life cycle, there is tons of potential down the line, along with the other systems. but more gaming companies are trying new things theyve never done before with the wii, so in the long run your gonna see a bigger variety of games on the wii then on the ps3 or 360.
plus they also have there huge titles that are settin records, like zelda, mario galaxy and smash bros... and huge games on the way like mario kart, and wii fit.
Especially since the one game everyone wants for the Wii (Wii Sports) already comes with the system. A friend of mine has had a Wii for five months now and he hasn't bought one game for it, excluding Virtual Console games. All that's played on it is Wii sports and Ocarina of Time. The Wii just needs to up its attachment rate. As it stands right now, everyone is buying a Wii, but aren't buying alot of games for it, thats not what Nintendo wants at the end of the day.

The current attach rate for the Wii has been put at 5-game-per-console according to GameStop which is the same as the PS3. This number lags behind the Xbox 360 which is said to have an attach rate of 8.8.
This was from a Gamestop report:
5 game attachment rate is not that bad, and equals the PS3. Of course it doesn't beat the 360, which has an awesome attachment rate, but it doesn't have to to be successfull.
I don't know why people are still under the impression that their attachment rate is bad.
Ok, cool. I don't think the other systems will touch the 360 attach rate for a while. That is ok though...the Wii is doing well for itself, and I personally love the system and own quite a few games for it.
I hope microsoft doesn't go along with the me-too attitude though and do a wii-mote knock off, since their strength lies elsewhere. I do think however that motion control will be something automatically added in come next generation. The other companies have seen that it does have a unique selling point, and it also has a consumer base that will eat it up...so I say prepare for the inevitable.
I agree and i disagree at the same time. I dont see the next consoles going Wii and adopting motion control as their primary means of interaction, but i do see an added emphasis on it. I just dont see the hardcore Halo, GoW, CoD, MGS crowd clamoring for Wii like controls.
Actually that is what I meant to say...it won't be the primary means like the Wii, but I think that motion control will be integrated as a selling point of the system, sort of a secondary function and not a seperate peripheral needed to be purchased.
Metroid Prime 3 proved how unique and accurate motion control could be and how much it can add to an experience, so I wouldn't be surprised to see FPS and similar genres giving you the option to play with motion.
Yea, i agree completely. Motion control is far easier to pick up than a game pad, thats just a given and to grab those "non-gamers", motion control is BY FAR the easiest way to go about it(case in point, the Wii).
As for this gen, i wouldn't at all be surprised to see MS or Sony adopt a motion like control system to try and capture a portion of that casual audience that the Wii has a death grip on. MS is already trying to break into that market with the Xbox Arcade SKU and advertised events like "Family Game Night".
