Jim Henson probably didn't think his beloved creation would end up being the star of memes and gifs, probably because he died long before they were even an idea. Still, Kermit has been used by social media these last couple years in odd ways, not least of which was the use of Kermit in a Lipton tea commercial that evolved into it's own Internet meme that lasted longer than the ad campaign it sprang from.

We've all seen the images everywhere...

Yet... There may be a reason a Muppet might prefer tea in his later life over the other staple breakfast beverage, coffee. For you see coffee appears to make Kermit like creatures into sadistic thrill killers!

Want proof? Here are the commercials a young Jim Henson created during the golden age of TV for Wilkins Coffee. Many are pun based or about absurd reactions, no different from lots of modern advertisements... Most however are threats to your personal safely from a puppet. Really... Most of these commercials starring a sort of proto-Kermit, voiced by Henson most of the time, don't deal with sweet talking the consumer or tauting the product's quality or price. No, no, no... VIOLENCE AND MURDER seems to be the method this felt spokesman feels will get the best results.

In mexico we used to use that image as a meme too, but it was diferent it was like:
