After the First World War, Germany was in political and social chaos. The Weimar Republic was a mess, and it was only a matter of time before a stronger dictator than von Hindenburg took over. Perhaps, if Hitler never became Chancellor, another, more rational dictator would have taken Hindenburg's place. I always believed that the Second World War would have lasted longer had Hitler not made such careless, arrogant decisions.
And I dont believe Stalin would have been more aggressive in his foreign policy without Hitler. He was a scavenger, not a predator.
