If you were offered $5M for a year in jail, would you agree?

I think I would. A year is nothing and $5M would set me for life if used wisely. That's 30-50 years of never having to ever work at a crappy job again. Hell, I'd probably do it for $1 million. Less than that, probably not.

I don't think I could have brought myself to agree with this when I was 18-20 years old or so. Back then a year still seemed just sooooooo long. But now that I'm in my late 30's, I see it as not much at all. I guess perspective is key. I'm kinda curious how some of the younger folk on here react to the question versus the older ones.

Pfft, who cares about a record when you've got 5 million dollars?
I'm turning 27 in October, let's say I go in on that birthday, come out at 28.

If I budget myself to 75k a year I'd last up until I was 94 years old.
And in my mind I could live very comfortably with that much every year, travel, have awesome tech, escorts, parties.

Instead I'd budget myself to 125000 a year for 30 years, that leaves room for a lot of fun and by the time I'd be 58 I'd still have 1.25 million dollars to spread out more carefully.

In those 30 years I'd obviously have invested the money as I went along so I'd probably have hundreds of thousands more to play with for all I know.

Oh, I have. It was only county jail and only for 6 months and that was 16 years ago but I remember it. There was no ass rape or anything of the sort going on. It was pretty boring. So boring that you actually WANTED someone to offer you a work position just so that you'd have something to fill your time with. Kitchen duties were the best since they got extra food to eat.

Could you break that down for a layman such as myself.
As it is I'm really not sure if you're role playing, telling me you've been in jail and I should get humble about the subject, telling me to prepare myself for immanent butt rape, being drunk and typing, or telling me how to survive in the clink.

I've been to jail; it's about as fun as a funeral and about as exciting as a power outage, I'd still take 5 mil for a year.

This would depend on the consequences of my stay. Having a record is no simple thing plus the type of prison I would have to go to would also be a predominant factor. A year in a maximum security could lead to big complications especially if you get into someone's crosshairs. Plus $5 m is not that much eventhough it is a nice size capital to use as a base to increase your wealth.
