IGN's Top Ten Reboots of All-Time

They got the top two right. That is all that really matters.

Don't agree with Incredible Hulk

I definitely don't think SR and X:FC count as reboots.

I'd even argue Casion Royale isn't a true reboot because of Judi Dench.

I definitely wouldn't put SR on that list, and I'd switch Rise of the Planet of the Apes and The Amazing Spider-man, but otherwise, I pretty much agree with it.

Casino Royale, Batman Begins and Star Trek are everything reboots should hope to be, imo.

X-Men: First Class is great, but not a reboot. And SR shouldn't be on that list even if it were a reboot.

But yes, Casino Royale, Star Trek and Batman Begins are all magnificent both as films and reboots.

I think Rise of the Planet of the Apes should've made the top 3.

Superman Returns is the only Movie I think shouldn't be on the list. And maybe First Class, but only because I don't qualify it as a reboot.

the SR that we got is not a full reboot so it shouldnt be on that list. i agree.

but if it was a reboot then it would be a different movie. a movie that we didnt see. can we agree on that ?

I think X-Men : First Class will eventually be considered a reboot because they intend to follow a different timeline.

It was a surpise to see Sum of All Fears. I suppose they ran out of reboots to list.

Nothing to say about "Sum of All Fears"
Amazing Spider-Man is not really a good reboot, it didn't manage to be better than the old series
Incredible Hulk, Star trek, Casino Royale, and Batman Begins deserve mentioning, especially Batman
Like hopfuldreamer and Nathan said; X-M:FC and SR shouldn't count as reboots

Mediocre list, both in terms of chosen films and in terms of them not always getting what a reboot actually is.

I don't think SR even remotely qualifies as a reboot, much less one of the 10 best of all time. :o

Unless their perception of a good reboot is one that owes everything in it to films that came out almost three decades prior, made absolutely no effort to add anything new mythology-wise to the film, and was so dreadfully dull that six years later, they've had to reboot that "reboot".

I'd say IGN should get their **** together, but they did nail the top 3. Then again, those were obvious.

Sum of All Fears? Really? That completely caught me off guard. Even as someone who liked the film, I thought it was a poor reboot.

maybe not mythology. but Superman having a son was a good idea. maybe it didnt work in the whole movie but the idea was very good.

ohhhh i forgot. this is a superhero forum. which means we need a different blue/red suit, more action and a stupid cliche 3 act origin story.

sorry

So you've seen the Man of Steel already?

No they needed to do the reboot because Superman having a kid left them nowhere to tell a good story. What was later revealed for the sequel was Brainiac was going to turn Superman's son older and turn him to evil and Superman was going to have to kill him. There you would of had more Emoman! This proposed sequel would of made Superman even more depressed, more unhappy as he already was in Superman Returns, all emo about being alone in a world of 7 billion.

based on all the info that we have for MOS and the comic con trailer and the teaser trailer Clark is emoman for the first 45 minutes.

I'll put my neck out there and agree with you as well. I loved that he had a kid, it's something I've always wanted to see in the comics.

Maybe him having a kid wasn't the worst idea ever, but the movie was just so not exciting, too much of a rehash of the Donner Movies and because of this, I didn't like the characterization of any of the characters.
