Heres a game for the WWII flight sim fans.

IL-2: Sturmovik: Birds of Prey brings the hit flight game IL2-Sturmovik to console owners for the first time, with all new graphics, missions, physics and planes. The game includes large-scale aerial combat and ground based military operations from World War II. Players will participate in some of the war's most famous battles piloting fighters, battle planes and heavy bombers across a range of thrilling missions.

There are five areas of war to engage in -- The Battle of Britain, Stalingrad, Berlin, Sicily and Korsun' representing the main airborne battles of World War II in Europe. As well as advanced environmental visuals enriching the game play, IL-2 also boasts an all new damage effects engine. Players can see real time damage to the aircraft such as holes in the wings and trail lines during dog fights. Hundreds of airplanes will take part in air battle in IL-2: Sturmovik: Birds of Prey and the unique environmental engine produces highly detailed, realistic landscapes that allows players to see breathtaking ground support actions. The difficulty levels will range from arcade to simulation.

There is a demo available on Xbox Live and if you are interested i suggest giving it a DL. Its quite a lengthy demo that really gives you a feel for the game. The detail within the game is unreal. You can see your plane take damage, you can have oil splash on your cockpit, watch as a wing becomes more and more damaged before breaking apart sending you into a free fall. Watch as the air becomes thick with black smoke from your anti ground attacks. The arcade setting is quite easy to learn to play, the simulation setting on the other hand, well i think you have to have a pilots license to play.

I bought IL-2: Sturmovik on some Ubisoft weekend deal on steam a couple of months back.
Good game, brutal though, even simple tasks like taking off and landing can take hours to get right without using autopilot.

Yea, thats what iv heard. Not sure about the PC version but this game offers a control scheme that anyone can pick up and play. I tried using the "Simulation" controls and i couldnt turn without going into a damn tailspin. It seems as if this game will offer a good balance between arcade and sim which is what im looking for. I also just love the detail in this game. I think im gonna end up getting this and a flight stick. Now i just gotta find a good flight stick, either for the 360 or PS3.

Simulator mode is HARD. I was bouncing up and down all over the place couldn't see where my objective was. Then when I got up to the plane I guess I turned to much like ProjectPat did and went into a tail spin nose dive thing that I couldn't get out of.
