But, isn’t including animation in live action for the novelty of having animated characters next to real life actors the entire point? Otherwise, if they’re just gonna be live action, why even do it?
I get it if it’s something that is sort of MCU adjacent, like What If…?, since that’s characters would be technically live action. But, for something like X-Men ‘97 or Spider-Man: TAS, they originated as animated, so why wouldn’t they be animated when they cross over into the MCU?
I have yet to see a proper argument against this that tells me why this is a bad idea other than “it would look dumb/wacky“. Why is it a bad idea? Give specific reasons for it shouldn’t or wouldn’t work.
^^^This.
Basically, here’s my thought process:
-If they originated in an MCU adjacent animated project, they’ll be live action.
-If they had their origins separately from the MCU as an animated project, they stay animated.
Though, seeing YFNSM Peter Parker/Spider-Man in animated form standing side-by-side with Tom Holland Spider-Man, Andrew Garfield Spider-Man, and Tobey Maguire Spider-Man would be quite the spectacle.
