I'm Not Messing Around, I'm Doing Important Stuff in The Superhero Cinematic Civil War Thread - Part 61

I haven't seen the last three episodes of Born Again yet, but what I did see was disappointing. It's two shows Frankensteined together, which I expected, but the problem is neither show seemed good. The first episode was a mess. The peak thus far was the bank episode because it didn't have to deal with all these new characters and plotlines that feel like tossing things at the wall without structure or reason. Muse has been such a disappointing villain in the material I've seen.

Who knew we could dislike going to a therapist more then seeing one in real life. But This show pulled it off.

My GOAT stays winning and handing out Ls

Ooooh so they are calling him the Void

my theory is its actually the same Void or Alioth from Loki and D&W, just being channeled through Sentry and manifesting in the 616
Would help tie this movie to the multiverse since its one of the last movies before doomsday and all
idk, what y'all think?

Did it for 10 network-length seasons of Smallville, this was nothing. :funny:

Honestly though, Charlie carried me through. He’s still one of my all-time fave superhero castings.

Here’s the thing: Born Again IS messy. I dont think there are very many people that would argue otherwise. It has an identity crisis. But i think your enjoyment mileage varies on how much you just enjoy watching Cox be Matt Murdock each week and do what he does so well. The man is so Matt Murdock personified that he’s magnetizing to watch even when the writing isnt great.

I really hope in the next season they stop lighting the scenes like this: (they probably wont)

I won’t entirely disagree with you, especially on the kinds of examples you gave, but I’ve seen so much worse within the MCU, especially how amateur/TV-like shots are framed and composed (looking at you, Russo Bros.!) that when we get stuff like this where it seems like the cinematographer/director actually knows how to properly shoot a frame, the “weird” lighting doesn’t even really phase or bother me that much.

F**k, I’m already emotional from watching this trailer. This film is going to be the end of me and wreck me, isn’t it?

Thunderbolts looks great, I am soooooo excited for it!

Me too. Something about the way Bucky says “WE could be the ones that are coming,” resonated with me and sold me on the premise of this movie.

Let's put the grading on a curve bit to the side. The framing and composition of Born Again wouldn't be exceptional for network TV, let alone premium cable or streaming.

Sure, the lighting and cinematography on Born Again left much to be desired but one thing you can't take away from it is
the gruesome VFX they used for Kingpin crushing the Commish's skull.

She doesn't need it but I respect her integrity to turn down what's gotta be an easy paycheck.
