I'm Not Messing Around, I'm Doing Important Stuff in The Superhero Cinematic Civil War Thread - Part 61

Yall are so mean. :csad:

All I know is, the Knicks are closer to becoming NBA Champions and the First Family are on their way.

Knicks win the title?

This one is LotR.

Cavs guy here, but I don't hold any bitterness toward Indiana for winning that series. It's fine, I at least got a 4 year run of the Cavs making the finals and winning arguably the best Finals ever. All that to say, I am probably rooting for the Knicks at this point. I know several Knicks fans from my days in NY, and that team hasn't had much to root for in my lifetime, so hey Knicks fans I hope this is your time.

Unsurprisingly, the Ironheart trailer comment section is rancid, but it's also really, really formulaic. I wonder if there's some bot activity going on. Maybe I'm spiraling and trying to cope with the fact that people are dreadful, but I've been looking into astroturfing lately, and botting is a common practice, particularly to defame women (most famously Amber Heard, currently Blake Lively), and these comments seem fairly similar. The anti-woke narrative is lucrative, and hordes of people are falling for it, but this kind of comment section where you have to scroll for minutes to find a normal comment seems a bit suspect, particularly for such an inoffensive trailer. Well, in any case, what a terrible time to be alive.

If the Nuggets lose, we will have the Knicks, the Pacers, the Wolves and the Thunder as the final four teams. Someone’s got to win to end the suffering lol

It's really made online discourse about....essentially everything unbearable.

"Batman came and went." - Avi Arad
Avi got too cocky saying that the summer before Batman Begins came out.
He said it right after Batman Begins came out because it didn't do as well as Spider-Man 2. Then of course The Dark Knight outgrossed all three individual Spider-Man movies.

I Googled it and unsurprisingly there was a whole 33-page thread on these forums at the time.

The two only good parts of that movie was the botched wedding scene at the beginning and the Surfer’s whole look.

Other than that, nothing happened in that movie.
The Silver Surfer was pretty cool. Between that and Evans that's about the only thing they got right.

I shouldn’t be, but it always astonishes me how swiftly people can show their racist asses as soon as you put a black woman as the lead on something. It’s so f’ing tired at this point between this project and the vile things I’ve read about the black characters from that Acolyte show, or when that black actress starred opposite Tom Holland on Romeo + Juliet, etc.

Anyway, I refuse to write Ironheart off because of this racist narrative, and I’m waiting to judge it by its own merits when it releases. I don’t give a damn how long ago they shot it.

And even if a show like The Acolyte ends up being bad (I didn't see it but I read reactions when it was on) it's not cause they cast a specific race or gender in the lead. It's almost always the same thing any bad projects suffer from. But legitimate criticism isn't even possible to do anymore cause these idiots always zero in on something that's just agenda driven and not the problem.

I also partially blame Disney and their PR team for not taking countermeasures when this conversation starts. Obviously fandom is gonna fandom, but damn, address the things these people are saying about your stars and defend your choices for casting them.

I don’t know man.

Disney, and the movie companies as a whole, absolutely need to do better in standing up for their creatives. Without these people, the stupid suits wouldn't have ANYTHING cause these morons don't know how to make a movie. They don't have skills. All they know how to do is get other people to do it for them and sometimes make suggestions that usually end in the product being worse.
