Legit concerned for F4 after Thunderbolts and now Ironheart. I'm sure The Avengers films will be mostly fine, but the concern is real.
It scares me how many "normal" people believe it does though. If a film about someone who is woman, black, gay, etc. has one note characters or a poorly told story, it turns into a condemnation of those groups. As if we haven't had mountains of poorly told tales about cis white men. But never, ever the same reaction. And yet I see people focusing on the fact that a character is trans who say they are allies. It's mental. And even if a show like The Acolyte ends up being bad (I didn't see it but I read reactions when it was on) it's not cause they cast a specific race or gender in the lead. It's almost always the same thing any bad projects suffer from. But legitimate criticism isn't even possible to do anymore cause these idiots always zero in on something that's just agenda driven and not the problem.
Oh, I have seen boring, bland as white bread toast white dude who has no character a million times! Sam Worthington and guys like him or Garrett Hedlund played that nothing character many times over!It scares me how many "normal" people believe it does though. It shows they condone it. Which just breeds more of this bigotry.I also partially blame Disney and their PR team for not taking countermeasures when this conversation starts. Obviously fandom is gonna fandom, but damn, address the things these people are saying about your stars and defend your choices for casting them.
I don’t know man.
You'd think they'd be against it, because it messes with their cash. But it honestly feels like sometimes they like it. Makes it easier for them to control their artist. There is a reason the Netflix guy hyper fixates on Nolan. Because he can't control him.Disney, and the movie companies as a whole, absolutely need to do better in standing up for their creatives. Without these people, the stupid suits wouldn't have ANYTHING cause these morons don't know how to make a movie. They don't have skills. All they know how to do is get other people to do it for them and sometimes make suggestions that usually end in the product being worse.
Absolutely. To me the Ironheart trailer simply looked like another Disney Plus Marvel show, nothing too exciting, but there's zero reason for the vitriol out there.I shouldn’t be, but it always astonishes me how swiftly people can show their racist asses as soon as you put a black woman as the lead on something. It’s so f’ing tired at this point between this project and the vile things I’ve read about the black characters from that Acolyte show, or when that black actress starred opposite Tom Holland on Romeo + Juliet, etc.
Anyway, I refuse to write Ironheart off because of this racist narrative, and I’m waiting to judge it by its own merits when it releases. I don’t give a damn how long ago they shot it.

Ironheart I have little faith in cause of reshoot nonsense, how long ago it was filmed, and it was made at the height of that reshoot the entire thing and we don't do showrunners era. But that's all behind the scenes stuff. The thing Ironheart's trailer was most guilty to me of being was....looking fine? It didn't look abysmal, but it also didn't look great either. Just sort of there. But you're right, it doesn't matter. Her existing is all these idiots focus on in the comments.Absolutely. You're so right about black women and these hate campaigns. Tonight, there'll be a new trailer for Directive 8020, and there's going to be manufactured controversy over it, just because Lashana Lynch is the lead. It's part of The Dark Pictures game series, and they always cast one Hollywood actor for one of the lead roles. She's following in the footsteps of Shawn Ashmore, Will Poulter, Ashley Tisdale, and Jessie Buckley. She's in the upper echelon of relevancy out of that group, but she's the ****ing DEI hire? I hate those people, I really do.
The possible bot use is scary because there doesn't seem to be any countermeasures in place for that. Botting a comment section 100% does change public perception and how people think, and it makes these fringe lunatics feel more powerful. Disney and Amazon have been hit hardest with these hate campaigns, but it doesn't seem like anything at all is being done.So many of these comments are obviously bots. That should give some weird comfort until you realize they work in breeding more hate.
And Disney listens to them.I have very little interest in Ironheart, which is outside of jokes about it taking decades to come out I don't really talk about it. It it reviews well I'll give it a look. Like Agatha, which I stopped after episode 3.

He said it right after Batman Begins came out because it didn't do as well as Spider-Man 2. Then of course The Dark Knight outgrossed all three individual Spider-Man movies.
I Googled it and unsurprisingly there was a whole 33-page thread on these forums at the time.
Batman Begins Thread ''Batman came and went' - Avi Arad'
Not sure if you guys have listened to the Avi Arad interview (just a day or two ago) He takes some nice swipes at Batman (How Spiderman made more in 10 days than BB will..), Superman, Goyer, and DC in general.....check it out. (Funny how he neglects to say how good of a 'movie' BB was though...jagoff)

And PLEASE don't say I'm starting anything....I didn't say these things, Avi did. I just thought you guys would like to know.

Hopefully he willl get an Emmy for season, 2.
Yelena will. I think she has been their biggest win. Shang-Chi SHOULD be there too, but he just....has been on the bench for no reason.
And Disney listens to them.
Okay, scratch that, I had the wrong day marked upTonight, there'll be a new trailer for Directive 8020
At best it’s the textbook definition of cowardly. You’re a multi-billion dollar conglomerate known for strong-arming a daycare center for painting Mickey on their walls but as soon as online trolls send death threats to actual humans that work for you it’s crickets? I don't remember that from the Spider-Man 2 DVD but that's funny how he was so boastful about it before karma came along.LOL I guess he doubled down after. The instance I was recalling was on the Making Of on the Spider-Man 2 DVD that he says it as well.
The funniest part of TDK's success, is it was obviously coming. Begin's DVD sales were legendary.I don't remember that from the Spider-Man 2 DVD but that's funny how he was so boastful about it before karma came along.
Though it was totally unprofessional for someone of his status to say that, he wasn't completely off the mark. DC was in pretty bad shape in Hollywood between Batman and Robin and Batman Begins. But even then, Begins was more of a modest success than a box office juggernaut. Introducing Joker in TDK was always going to be the huge draw.
Random, but I just actually read that article and found this interesting:I'm rooting for both but how many of those Superman views were Snyder bros hate watching?
My barometer for trailer views equating to box office success is totally askew after this:

‘Joker 2’ Trailer Launches to 167 Million Views in 24 Hours, Giving Warner Bros. It’s Biggest and Most Talked About Trailer Since ‘Barbie’ (EXCLUSIVE)
"Joker: Folie à Deux" got off to a strong marketing start as its first trailer debuted to 167 million views in 24 hours.variety.com
Yep. It was a perfect storm of buildup between Begins's goodwill, the incredible trailers and marketing, Heath Ledger's tragic passing among other factors. I don't like crediting an actor dying to a movie's box office take but in this case there were a ton of people who probably would otherwise never bother with superhero movies going specifically to see his take on the Joker. The funniest part of TDK's success, is it was obviously coming. Now it's all about those streaming numbers which is why Rebel Moon was technically a bigger success than BarbieYep. Now you've got me all nostalgic for a time when DVD sales were a barometer.![]()
