I'm Not Messing Around, I'm Doing Important Stuff in The Superhero Cinematic Civil War Thread - Part 61

As I think of the past movies further, neither the first 2 Ant-Man movies nor Doctor Strange had major hype, and all those did well (Ant-Man 500 WW and A&W and DS over 600 WW). Granted, none of these are billion dollar films, but I don't think anyone really is expecting that.

For the record, I hope FF is successful. Same way I was really hoping Thunderbolts* would really breakout with strong legs. That would hopefully mean good signs for the future. More things like that on the horizon and less things like Deadpool & Wolverine.

Sure, Doomsday would still be on the horizon, but at least we could maybe point to that as just the roadblock end to this nonsense before moving onto a better path.

Both of those movie came when the MCU was cooking and had general hype. Which emphasizes my point.

I love you too Pink Ranger. :sneeze:

I do think both will be fine but Superman will win. Either way I do feel cautiously optimistic about the next chapter for both studios and in times like these I’ll take that lmao

Bruh, the only thing that makes me feel like Supes won’t be as successful as FF is the same reason why it’s getting new life: it has a little too much Gunn.

The FF however, I feel will pleasantly surprise us all. As well as the GA.

It’s giving The Jetsons but as a live action CBM. :o

Genuine question. What does F4 have going for it? Thunderbolts was considered one of the MCU's best and it got no traction at the BO. What is F4 coming with?

You know, I often forget that WB gave Snyder extra money to finish that stupid Snyder cut, and he proceeded to use it to film extra vision scenes which for some reason needed Jared Leto in them

You're discrediting the greatest handjob joke ever.

Speaking of trailers and hype, they dropped a Jurassic World Rebirth tease today.

The whole rest of the movie could suck for all I care but I'm all in for that T-Rex raft scene.

For the record, I believe a Jetsons movie in 2025 would absolutely fail. :o

Thing is though, people really like Gunn. At least when he's doing more family oriented material. Def agree that his inner 13yr old boy stuff doesn't have a whole lot of wide appeal, but I think since he's working with a character like Supes, that'll be reigned just like it is for the Guardians movies.

I've got a lot of issues with Gunn, but I think he's generally aware of where the line is for certain material. He's not Snyder where he HAS to impose all his inner tendencies into his work.

I think TFF:FS looks like a pretty good time in the trailers. That said...

Fantastic Four - both in comics or past movies - were never as popular as some people think they are. Disney even suspended their comics for years without much care during their rivalry with the studio they later bought out called Fox.

The characters in this new movie are all new to the MCU and those first entry movies tend to land lower on average in the MCU box office.

There's also what I've said before about GDP growth being half-way to a recession right now as well as that Marvel has decided to put out 3 movies in a small span of time and the general audience appetite/demand for them doing that isn't as strong as it was in the past.

I have nothing rational to support my theory Darth, it’s just a feeling. But I feel like the performances, the setting, the Raygun Gothic aesthetic and just that good old fashioned Disney voodoo will help.

Plus Pedro. Who continues to be one of the best people in Hollyweird ever. :o

Is this supposed to help its case? :o

But that also doesn't mean that the movie is going to fail either. I am not going to argue that the MCU is on a massive upswing at the BO, but even at its peak, there was a different audience for each movie. I can easily see this movie being bigger with young children and families than Thunderbolts was for example, and those people wouldn't be represented on social media and such. Regardless, I don't think failure at this point 2 months before release is absurd at all

Of course all love our father.

I think the real fundamental difference is the floor is far lower then ever.

Perhaps. :sneeze:

All I’m asking Flick, is there reeeeeeeeaaallly something special today about believing if a man can fly? When we have already seen several other superheroes who can?

Especially after the tv tour de force that was Superman & Lois?

I’m just saying.

There’s something special about the flying man with all that power being altruistic and good in this day-in-age, absolutely.
