I'm Not Messing Around, I'm Doing Important Stuff in The Superhero Cinematic Civil War Thread - Part 61

@flickchick85 random question.

I know you more than likely expounded in the past, but how do you feel about Tom Welling during his tenure as Clark?
I think he’s lucky Henry Cavill exists to be the worst Clark.

I enjoy him way more on the Talkville podcast than I ever did on Smallville.

Diego Andaluz, Senior Awards/Chairman @DiscussingFilm, CA @WarnerBros/@HBO : "[The rumor that Daniel Day Lewis is being pursued to play Magneto] is true. He’s Marvel’s top choice (although he probably won’t say yes) They also want Bryan Cranston to play Professor X, and Cynthia Erivo to play Storm… will they say yes? Time will tell"

Smallville had one of the best TV pilots out there. And every now and then, they had fun episodes.

But make no mistake, that show had exactly two (2) saving graces: John Glover and Erica Durance. I didn’t like Rosenbaum’s monotonous line deliveries, I didn’t like the Kents, didn’t like the blatant plagiarism from much better shows/movies, I didn’t like Everybody Loves Lana, I didn’t like Chloe’s entitlement, and I sure as hell didn’t like Welling’s passive, wan Clark who could be told his destiny 10 episodes in a row by people from the future and still not embrace it. But Lionel and Lois? God tier. 🔥*

*except that one stupid subplot where Lois was sleeping with the editor. Nearly ruined the whole damned character.

Oh goodness. But I feel you.

Were you feeling the Aquaman and Lois romance or nah?

Smallville Lex is more overrated then Cavill's Clark, only because sane people act like he's god's gift. :funny:

Nah. Alan Ritchson was genuinely cringey to watch back then. :funny: It was weird that they had her hooking up with Oliver after that too. And I know they were just trying to find something to do with her while Lana was overstaying her welcome, but still…find something else.

Clancy Brown is the GOAT so far, but even if we’re talking live-action TV, John Shea from Lois & Clark and even Sherman Howard from Superboy were so much better than Rosenbaum.

And Cudlitz from S&L was probably the most menacing.

This must be how people feel when I explain the Riverdale episode where Cheryl is possessed by her lesbian witch ancestor and tosses molotov cocktails at Archie because what with who

I so must binge the later seasons of Riverdale one day. Didn’t they give them superpowers and basically make them mutants? Lol

Yeah so there was a split in reality because Veronica's dad put a time bomb under Archie's bed and Archie had a palladium rock next to the bed and so their universe crossed with Rivervale and they got super powers and there's an interdimensional 500 year old confederate wizard.

“Lois is just really into superhero-types” is really an agenda they pushed on that show. Because “isn’t it cute since we know she ends up with Clark”? :vomit:

All CW shows that go past 3 seasons have to turn everyone stupid, because the entire point of the shows is people hooking up and they just have to keep delaying it.

Except S&L and Nikita, the two greatest things that network ever produced! CW didn’t deserve them. :weeping:

I liked Rosenbaum's Lex. I like to see Lex calm and collected (or monotonous) most of the time so that those times when he's not (or the facade crumbles) it counts for much more.
The fundamental problem I have with this, is he's rarely written as calm and collected on the show. Lex is clearly written as far more of a suave rich kid, trying to be good but he has a darkside. It's just Rosenbaum's incapable of conveying anything like that.

Well, the showrunners weren't too interested in the Supernatural main cast hooking up....

The fandom, however.....
