I'm Not Messing Around, I'm Doing Important Stuff in The Superhero Cinematic Civil War Thread - Part 61

Don’t worry; Blade is coming out in 2079. Just a few more years to go.
I don't see Blade getting made. Not sure why they are finding it so hard to make a superhero vampire film. Blade isn't exactly the most complex comic book character to adapt.

I don't think Swamp Thing will get off the ground at DC as well. The TV show was pretty good but I think Abbie Arcane was miscast.

Smallville had one of the best TV pilots out there. And every now and then, they had fun episodes.

But make no mistake, that show had exactly two (2) saving graces: John Glover and Erica Durance. I didn’t like Rosenbaum’s monotonous line deliveries, I didn’t like the Kents, didn’t like the blatant plagiarism from much better shows/movies, I didn’t like Everybody Loves Lana, I didn’t like Chloe’s entitlement, and I sure as hell didn’t like Welling’s passive, wan Clark who could be told his destiny 10 episodes in a row by people from the future and still not embrace it. But Lionel and Lois? God tier. 🔥*

*except that one stupid subplot where Lois was sleeping with the editor. Nearly ruined the whole damned character.
Lex gets knocked unconscious what feels like a million times in that show.

People have a lot of nostalgia for CW shows because they watched them growing up but the writing could be awful and formulaic at times.

Yeah so there was a split in reality because Veronica's dad put a time bomb under Archie's bed and Archie had a palladium rock next to the bed and so their universe crossed with Rivervale and they got super powers and there's an interdimensional 500 year old confederate wizard.
They were straight up battling Satan at one point.

The riverdale writers commitment to just do whatever crazy storyline popped into their minds is really a sight to behold. It is like a 'no bad pitches' teen soap opera.

So it looks like both Voltron and that Highlander movie are going straight to streaming because of Henry Cavill’s lack of box office appeal.

I know that can’t possibly be right because the Worst People on the Internet told me that the only reason Deadpool & Wolverine made a billion dollars is because of a 5-second Cavill cameo.

Sidebar, but I need Disney to quit pulling all these stunts.

Obviously I can’t post it here, but did you guys see that TikTok of “the fan” who snuck on the Doomsday set? I’m really supposed to believe that, with the amount of security and personnel that’s involved with a production of that magnitude?

Henry Cavill, king of streaming is appropriate. And his most successful movie will always be a movie where he cameos as someone else's character.

I think it was 2 fold. He wanted more money and he only had 1 movie left on his deal, which he was holding out for Man of Steel 2. So he wanted a separate deal for the cameo and more money for it

Full paycheck for 1 min? Sign me up. :funny:
Nah being contracted for a certain number of movies doesn’t mean you get paid the same for each movie. If it’s a cameo you’ll get paid for a cameo (which I’m sure is still more than I make in a year lol). It just means you haven’t fulfilled that contract with the studio until you’ve done that many movies. Which is why actors (like Chris Evans) often try to negotiate the number down…if you already have a career, there’s not much to gain from being obligated to 9 appearances of varying length/prominence that will almost certainly cause you to miss out on other roles. Meanwhile the studio is under no obligation to give you all those appearances and can drop you at any time.

With the Cavill thing, the initial reports on this scenario made it sound like the studio was already kinda done with him and offered him this cameo as an olive branch to “build back some goodwill with audiences” and he stupidly chose to play hardball with them instead because it was the last movie on his contract, as if that would entice them to make another MoS movie instead. Shockingly it did not. :funny:

And then he bet on the "hierarchy of the DC Universe has changed". I still think he was fairly confident that The Rock was either going to get him MOS 2 or Black Adam vs Superman, and thus why he quit The Witcher.

Which, lol.

That whole two weeks between Cavill announcing he was back as Superman and Gunn kicking him out must have been absolutely wild behind the scenes at WBD. Lmao
Somebody better have filmed. Even if we can’t see it until the execs are dead and gone. :hehe:

That’s what the “Poor Cavill” narrative loves to leave out: dude tried to power move WB twice, and it didn’t work out for him. Because it was dumb and he thought too highly of his clout. Too bad so sad.
