I am confused... has Reeves got a first draft done or not?

It's a pretty big error on the author's part or the trade to make that mistake. It's pretty clear to me that the mistake came from the article, before and after this interview Reeves was still saying he was finishing the script, the fact that they didn't give a direct quote from Matt confirming that the script was ready makes this even clearer.
This all sounds a bit unnecessarily confusing, Gunn talks as if he hasn't read anything yet, but Matt said he has already handed over large parts of the script to DC.It's a pretty big error on the author's part or the trade to make that mistake.
In any event, something is definitely going on. It's not even that a delay to march makes a difference because it's only 5 months. It's more that Gunn goes out of his way to say the script is not in yet. He could clarify and say it's almost done. He sounds like a troll at this point and we full well know he reads about what fans are saying.
If I had to take a guess, they probably didn't anticipate the penguin being so well received. Because it was, Reeves likely has more say then if it wasn't. Hollywood is very much of the attitude, was your last project a success, if so, you get more latitude to do what you want.

Made on the stove, so you know it's god-tierI hope it was good hot chocolate.
I know we all want Matt Reeves to “cook” in his own universe but with how long it’s taking him to complete this script, the smart business play would be to bring everything together.
Also, surly Matt Reeves understands that this is not some indie film with no attention attached to it. I just wish he would come out and say something. “Hey, we’re still working hard in completing the final stage of the script.” I mean something like that but we got Gunn causing a panic lol
Part 2 100% will happen. All this honestly just calls into question Part 3, more than anything. Part 2's box office has to be solid to justify all these production hurdles for a potential Part 3.I have to say it. I don’t think The Batman 2 is happening. I hope I’m wrong. But at this point, I don’t have hope for anything anymore.
