I'm Reading Your Stuff: General News and Discussion Thread

i find bardem as a villain again tiring, but he's such a beast of an actor, he'd probably win me over.

Brad Pitt in this universe, on the other hand, is insane lol. could we get character actor brad in this universe :hushed:

This could be one of those situations where a deal is out to him but the chances are slim. Didn't Bale have an interview once saying that Leo is offered every role first and the actors who end up getting it are because he passed.

That said, I think because of what Colin did with the Penguin, it actually has bigger name actors considering this. At the end of the day, this is the Batman franchise and a lot of people want to be a part of that legacy especially when you have a filmmaker like Reeves behind it.

I didn't even know he was sick...

EDIT : It's a Norm Macdonald reference, just in case... :funny:

It was kind of refreshing to see Bardem in F1 using all his charisma to play just a straight up good guy.

The “Bardem walking in disbelief after APXGP won” gif from F1 would go insanely hard

Get Matthew Rhys in here somewhere. Watching The Beast in Me and the guy is dripping in intensity.

It almost took 10 years to get another Batman movie.

You mean like some of the ones people around here wanted to be Batman and other characters?

It's very funny that I have nonstop given Gunn **** about finding his casting agonizingly mid and lacklustre but unreservedly like every single actor we know is up for Brainiac more than who Reeves picked for his (99% confident) main antagonist.

Gunn catching a random stray would be the free spot on a SHH themed bingo card.
It is objectively funny and I am super guilty of it but I do think its kind of hard to avoid when he's been made the central focus of the entire brand so if discussion drifts to DC on film writ large it is gonna happen :funny:. Fandom revolved around Snyder for years, now it mostly revolves around Gunn (and also Snyder, always and forever) - DC loves a Daddy.

Just hope Gunn doesn’t go low rent on Batman. Would suck to lose the prestige streak that casting’s always had

It doesn't have to be a big name, imo, it just has to be someone exciting. If the point is just BATMAN who cares, there's been a million Batmen, it has to be exciting that it's this particular person playing Batman and how that makes in unique. That's how it should always work with these characters who are so massively overexposed and over-adapted - it needs to be as much about the actor as it is the character. Which is obviously the exact opposite of Gunn's casting philosophy.

Pattinson is a perfect example of that. The fact its him specifically and his history, the audiences associations with him etc. all play into it. I also, actually, think Affleck was a great example of that too albeit not exactly well used.

Oh no doubt. It’s mostly warranted. it’s just very funny.
