Im writing a Green Lantern script!

Ive decied that with no actual movement on the project, Im going to sit down and write a Green Lantern script myself. I have written treatments with both Hal Jordan and Kyle Rayner, so now all I must do is pick one and move on to the scripting stages. Im not following and particular comic book storyline, I will be taking these characters and putting my own spin on it, for better or worse. Regardless of which character I choose, there will be NO Parallax.

why would Parallax be in the first movie that would be like haveing the clone saga for the first spider-man movie.

First tip for your script; punctuation.

No the Lanterns hail from all parts of the 3600 sectors of the known universe. Oa is the home of the Guadians City, the Central Power Battery and the Book of Oa, which cronicles the life stories of all the Green Lanterns. Ledgend has it that Oa is at the center of the universe.

Ive written a few indie movies, nothing big though. I'm seriously going to take a chance on this and try to sell my Green Lantern script. Lantern, Superman, and Batman have always been the three heroes Ive dreamed of working with, and there is only one of those left, but I'm actually happier writing for a hero that is lesser known to the general audience. And I believe that the Green Lantern has unlimited potential.

I'm going to try and sell it as an origin story with either Hal or Kyle, more than likely Hal because the Abin Sur origin is perfect for the big screen. This might piss some people off, but I have considered giving Kyle the Abin Sur origin, but Im not likely to do that. As with all my work, the film will be about the characters first. I love the idea of showing real, everyday people in the backdrop of a fantasy/Sci-Fi universe. I write alot of self-aware, sarcastic dialouge so that will be included in the script of course, and Sinestro will of course be the villian.

P.S. I hate Bryan Singer's Superman Returns!!!

So what kind of budget are you looking at to start and would you be interested in making this an Indie film?

I would deff. be interested in doing an Indie picture with the Green Lantern if I am unable to sell my script and vision to Warner's. I'll have to finish the script before I can give a budget estimate, so I'll have to get back with you on that. I've been writing a ton the last week or so, with this and another project I'm writing, but I don't want to give an estimate on the finish time for the Lantern script yet.

Hey, if anyone has any info they would like to send me or what they would like to see in the script, feel free to PM me. I only get on about twice a week because Im swamped with work but I will try to answer back as soon as possible. The Green Lantern script is something Im doing on the side with the prayer of selling it to Warner Brothers, god I wish other studio's were able to produce DC characters. The other script Im working on is my number one priority, seeing that Im under a contract to finish it by Christmas or I'll be replaced.

On a Green Lantern note though, One of my best friends, who is enrolled at the Art Institute in Portland, flew down to L.A. to visit and I had him draw up some Green Lantern art work, which was mostly the suit and ring designs. I had him to give the suit a much more militaristic feel, seeing that I don't want the suit to look like a Power Ranger outfit or a Leotard. The suit has the green shoulders, with the Lantern symbol on the chest and a black body. I will post all the designs the moment I get off my ass and go purchase a scanner.

Even if I sell this script, I stand almost zero chance to direct as I have yet to direct anything other than my student films. I have a Film degree and a Creative Writing degree, but only one gets put to use.
