I also made a thread about this a while back, but that one is gone, now.

Samuel L. Jackson is going to be great as the Afro Samurai.
The show looks damn good.

Eh... Something about it...feels...almost stereotypical to me. o_O

I'm watching it regardless of stereotypes it's Mother@#$%ing Samuel L jackson!

I love how hes a potheadin the show too. :woot:

when does this show debut or has it already?

Been waiting for this series when word of it first came to light back in November of 2005. I think it'll be the first anime to start in the US before going overseas to Japan.

No it starts at the same time in our country and in Japan.

According to this, it'll air first in the US before airing in Japan.

jan .4th eh ?i'll keep that in mind

Yes. Hell, I've boycotted Spike TV, but this'll probably be what brings me back. :woot:

Granted, that will mean we'll probably only get a few episodes, but...:cmad:

I'll watch atleast the first episode to see it I like it.

I remember it being said that Samurai Champloo inspired making Boondocks go in the animated style they went in (according to an Adult Swim bump :woot:). This reminds me of some of those dream Samurai fights Huey had on the show. I wonder if that inspired this in any way.

Looked on youtube for a clip to show what I meant, this is close enough. Someone made a clip with Boondocks footage with the Samurai Champloo theme song.

Don't forget Thursday night at 11/10c, Afro Samurai premieres.

^Watching it on tv just feels better than watching it on a monitor to me.

On topic, pretty nice so far. Mostly visceral bloody swordplay, but cool nonetheless.

I like this show so far. I love the art style and the fights are pretty good

meh, this just feels like its a black version of kill bill...

bah..

wil this ep be repeated i forgot to sert my recorder

I dug the pilot, but I know how Spike is with shows I like-especially those revolving around a black man w/a sword. :cwink: Once it starts getting really good they'll 86 it, so I'll enjoy it while I can.

i've got my vcr ready for tonights rerun i want to see this
amountan with HANDS? now i KNOW I WANNA SEE THIS

The series has potential to be great.

For a pilot, the episode was good.
I'd like more story and dialogue, though.
The over the top action was a bit much, but still cool.

Just watched the pilot through Spike's website--very cool stuff. Great action and excellent animation.

I have a question though: I could tell that Jackson voiced the sidekick guy, but he also voiced Afro, right? Also, who does Ron Pearlman play?

I thought that Ron was the ginormous dude in the bar, but maybe he is the nemesis.

Samuel L. Jackson was Afro and the sidekick.
