Importing moives into itunes onto ipod?

ok, so I got my harry potter 6 movie (had to torrent it since my digital copy froze mid-download and I cant use the code no more ) but anyway, so i have it in mp4 format, which itunes / ipods can play...can anyone tell me why my ipod wil not let it synch it onto it? I imported it into itunes, but it says it can't play it...help?

i dont know much about ipods and itunes but it seems it wont allow the encoding. do you have a video converter or something else that you use to import media?

yeah, I converted the whole thing, now the movie won't even play at all, can't even click on it or anything.

I've been having somewhat of the same issue.....most torrents are in .avi format aren't they? You'll need some converter to kind of re-encode it. I have been trying to import some of my movies into iTunes, but because they are originally encoded in .avi, I need something to convert the files. I can find several to buy, but nothing free....anyone know of anything? I think it can be done from Quicktime Pro, but I have the old Mac OSX (10.4.9) and don't know if it will be compatible. And I don't want to buy it if I can't use it!

Conversion from .avi to .mp4 isn't always perfect. If the avi isn't quite right, it can still play and make it through the conversion process, but still fail to be a playable mp4 file. I've encountered this many times. Far as I know, the only thing you can do is try converting with a different program, or get a different avi file.

I use Videora. Not the most intuitive interface, and I hate the ads. But it works more than it fails. You might also try MediaCoder.
