The Dark Knight In Heath We Trust: A Ledgerbration: The TDK Joker Appreciation Thread

The timing is obviously to coincide with TDK's release (arguable whether that's good or bad), but it remains to be seen what the segment entails. For all we know it could give us a deeper insight into Heath's life as opposed to his death. I've seen some episodes of this series, and they always interview said person's family and friends.

Who knows, though.

Oh, that's good to hear Crook, thanks. It would be nice to hear about him from people who actually knew the bloke well, and cared about him, and maybe had some interesting anecdotes to tell. But the manner of his death...God that's such a private thing, and he's already been dragged through the mud, and he was such a private guy to begin with.

The Australian hometown of the late actor Heath Ledger named a theater in his honor Tuesday for his commitment to acting.

The $87 million, 575-seat Heath Ledger Theater in Perth is a fitting tribute because Ledger was always supportive of other young actors, Western Australia state Premier Alan Carpenter said at a naming ceremony.

Ledger died at 28 of an accidental prescription drug overdose in New York in January.

"Heath Ledger was totally dedicated to the craft of being an actor and that's what made him successful," Carpenter said. "I think what we're doing is continuing that support for young people who want to make a career in the arts and acting, stage and in film, whatever it happens to be."

Kim Ledger, the actor's father, called the tribute a pleasant surprise.

"He was such a giver to the arts right across the board. I really feel that there's not a lot of things he'd put his name to, but he'd put his name to that," said Kim Ledger, who attended Tuesday's ceremony.

Kim Ledger said family members would travel to New York later this month to attend a screening of "The Dark Knight." Heath Ledger plays the Joker in the movie, his final full film role. The actor's performance has already been lauded by critics.

The renewed attention on his son because of the film has made the family's grieving process difficult, Ledger said.

"It's just been a little more public and the films make it a little more public as well," he said. "It's been a little bit hard, but we've always been extremely proud of his work and that hasn't changed."
Ledger received a best-actor Academy Award nomination for his role in 2005's "Brokeback Mountain."

Aww. I think that's great. :D

The soul of a character actor in the body of a leading man, like a young Gary Oldman in the skin of a young Paul Newman (no pun intended), that is something you don't see everyday, what a sad, tragic loss.

How in the hell long can this thread go on? It's basically the same thing for - good god - a hundred and twenty one pages?

'wanna fight about it'...
Sure...but you wouldn't win tho...

I have the high ground :hehe:

So yeah I watched Monster's Ball and Brokeback Mountain today. Both of which I had been wanting to see, just never got around to them.

Excellent movies. It's hard to believe Heath is the Joker.

...and after watching them, it's makes his death even more sad.

RIP Heath

Nope.

After all, it is Heath behind the make up. To expect to not get some type of resemblance to himself throughout his playing of the Joker is kind of strange.

I dunno about the voice - his natural speaking voice was so much deeper. You can see Heath a little more in the face there, but the voice? Eh.

I'm still  at how much the makeup hid his facial features.
