There's two different types of A-list casts.
Batman & Robin had big name stars, but not "respected" actors. Arnold can't act and George Clooney was just a pretty face at that point. Then what else did they have? Uma Thurman, Chris O'Donnell and Alicia Silverstone? Come on.
Catwoman had Halle Berry and Sharon Stone, and both of them had been involved in steaming piles of crap movies before.
The second type of A-list cast is real, respected, good actors. People with Oscars and Oscar nominations. Robert Downey Jr, Gwenyth Paltrow, Jeff Bridges, and Terrence Howard are not huge stars. They are not box office draws. They are all, however, Academy Award nominees. There is absolutely no denying that this cast has more in common with the Batman Begins cast than with the Catwoman or Batman & Robin cast.
This is a good point... but its tricky... they are going for a fun summer blockbuster or are they going for something more serious that will appeal to all audiences... either its the perfect mix for somthing brilliant... or the perfect mix for disaster... but clearly... based on casting alone... you see the differences between this and Marvel's predecesors...
Ghostrider had Cage and Mendez (A name to fill the seats and some fine booty on the side)
Dare Devil and Affleck and Garner (A pretty boy with his soon to be new girlfriend J. Garner... who was on teenage boy's "top ten celebs to **** list" at the time)
F4 had Alba toplining it as Sue Storm... and it was Fox... nuff said.
There is a difference here... it can't be as bad as those films were...
