Action-Adventure Indiana Jones Reboot?!

I think Pratt could work he has that Indy vibe imo.

Personally, I think Crystal Skull is a really great movie that blends in seamlessly alongside the rest of the series. What I thought worked most against it is that old-school adventure films like that just aren’t received well in general these days by audiences, and I would argue that people only hold the original trilogy in such high regard out of some sense of nostalgia. Not to discredit them in any way – they ARE great films – but I’m also confident that if Raiders came out today people would poo allover that one, too.
That said, I think Chris Pratt could fit an Indy-like role, as long they don't try to pass him off as literally the same character. I'd accept him more as a successor of some kind, as long as they acknowledge that the Harrison Ford's character still exists independent of Pratt's.

Had more of a sardonic type humor guy. More John McLane/Riggs vibe than Indiana Jones

I can see that . I thought his JW character had more in line with Indy than his Guardians character. It felt more old school, pulp, action adventure like Dr. Jones

See Spielberg knows what he's doing.

Would you guys want to see some of the other characters from the Indy films come back (played by new actors, obviously)? If so, who would you cast as Indy's father, Sallah, Marcus, Marian, etc?

Jim Broadbent basically played Marcus in all but name in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

It might be best to introduce new characters and keep the comparisons to a minimum.

Definitely new love interests, though. That's a must. Indy is like Bond. He should have a new love interest in every film.

That's a good idea.

Pratt was good in JW but he's much better as the Star Lord type because those are more of his strengths.

I am thinking that Michael Weatherly could be a pretty good Indy . . . and Annie Wersching could be good as Marion Ravenwood - freckles and all!

And we are already used to hearing Weatherly referred to as "junior!"

I like Weatherly a lot but I see them going after a much bigger name for this. Though Pratt wasn't really a household name until GOTG, so anything is possible.

As for the love interest thing... The one thing I did like about Crystal Skull was Indy getting back with Marian, who was not only the best heroine in the Indy series but also one of the best movie heroines, period. So I'd be down with seeing her show up again.

The thing I just realized is that literally most leading men in Hollywood could have played Pratt's role in JW just as well. I heard Josh Brolin was going to play him originally. That role didn't require a whole lot of intense acting chops. Owen was a stoic adventurer type... it doesn't take the most talented guy to get this. Besides, Pratt fits much better in the Star Lord. Those are where his strengths lie.

Pratt is a hot commodity now so I think the Indiana Jones reboot will now happen.

I wouldn't mind seeing Pratt in the role, could be a good fit, though i honestly wasn't all that impressed with his work as star lord or the main character from Jurassic World.

I like Pratt but my fear is that they just see him as the new "it" guy and that's the real reason why they might cast him in this role, not because he's right for it. I don't know. I kinda feel like he's right for this and I kinda don't. I think he'd probably do a good job but I feel like there might be someone out there who would be GREAT in the role but they won't even get a second look because they didn't have back-to-back roles in huge blockbusters.

Given Mad Max's success, I'd prefer they follow that blueprint- another story in the chapter of Indiana Jones. Very cleverly, they avoided any older characters from the original series, the same could be valid for Indy.

A case can be made that in Indy's case his allies are more fundamental to him than Mad Max, who is a nomad of sorts, but it can indeed be done without involving any of the previously established characters.

But if we do go that way, these are my picks...

Sallah- Conleth Hill (Game of Thrones)

Marcus- Sam Neill (Jurassic Park)

Marian-Evangeline Lily (Hobbit)

Like I said, this isn't entirely necessary but in case they decide to, anyway.

I'm sorry but I don't think Pratt is the right actor for the role. Indy is sort of a gruff jaded professor with moments of sarcasm.

Pratt seem better suited to more of the wide-eyed smart alec roles.

I know he's so "hot right now" but I don't think he's a great fit for every blockbuster role out there.

If Pratt is Indy, then Nick Offerman must be Sallah.

Pratt would have made a better Mutt.

You know he still could. Mutt Williams aka Henry Jones III could easily become the new Indiana Jones with Pratt in the role, that way it would still be tied to the original films and have Ford around. I could buy Pratt as an older Mutt say 10 years after KOTCS. Maybe it's just cause Pratt was going around on the bike in JW and Mutt had his bike in KOTCS. I could see them taking this direction and would probably be what I would most like to see rather than a full on "reboot" just yet.

You know who would have been a better Mutt? Garrett Hedlund. He did the "rebel without a cause" type of thing well in Tron, and he looks like he could be Ford's son. Provided he doesn't ham it up like he appears to be doing in Pan.

Honestly I rather liked Shia in KOTCS. He wasn't the issue with that movie (and no, he also wasn't the problem with those cartoonish action-scenes, that was the script's fault). He was fine. And as for "him not being believable as Indy's son," I disagree completely. I don't need, nor do I WANT Indy's son to be just like him. One, because he's NOT INDY, and two, because they didn't even learn that they were father and son until like halfway through the movie.

But then again I'm apparently one of the "crazy fans" who actually prefers KOTCS to TOD. I really don't care for that movie.

Yeah pretty insane. I may have to call up the man in the white suits.

TOD > TOKTCS
