It's been long run of crossovers and reality warps these past 1 and a half years, but DC and Marvel are bound and determined to do battle, not in the pages of their books, but on the racks of comic stores and news stands across the world. While each company is noted for their different characters and approaches, rarely does a time come like this, where two stories closely parallel one anoher. The list of similarites, although not many, are crucial devices for each companies current run of things.
Comon Factors:
-Reality gets warped by a powerful being, in a lasting fashion.
-Superhero related catastrophe leads to public mistrust of super beings.
-Numerous b-listers fall in combat against their own or villains.
From Wanda to Superboy altering reality as we know it. To the New Warriors failed attept at stopping mass murder, all the way to Diana snapping Maxwell Lords neck on camera...the state of the mainstream universes have taken a drastic change that leads into an even darker world than previously scribed in comic books. Though the events and the players are played out differently, the stage remains the same. Two different universes dealing with one kind of public and personal trauma. The real question at hand however, is which company has taken the better approach to this more relatable form of story telling, in which ficticious super beings deal wih real world problems?
