Playstation Insomniac's Spider-Man 2

If you switch the difficulty to "Friendly Neighborhood" you might have an easier time. I say that because the payoff is worth it after completing them.
Actually figured I can just hit skip activity after I start and it gives me the credit

Nice. You're not missing anything skipping out on them, there's not a lot of variety in those activities.

Yeah the story was nice but the challenges feel repetitive. I definitely prefer fighting instead.

I'm honestly surprised by how much negativity there's been about this game online? I've kept away from reading anything until I finished the story, so it all comes a bit out of the blue for me. I had a great time with it, even if I don't think they necessarily nailed the landing, story wise.

From what I've seen, the thing about the game that's drawn the most criticism and negativity is Miles's final suit in the game. I'm not a fan of the design at all but I absolutely don't care enough to whine about it on the internet.

The biggest issue I have with the game is that New Game+ and the ability to replay missions isn't available yet, but that'll be remedied soon. It's not a make-or-break problem but the game being on the shorter side makes it more noticeable. By comparison, New Game+ for God of War: Ragnarok didn't come out for about six months after the game was released but that's a much fuller, fatter game that takes longer to complete so you don't feel like you want to start over right away after beating it. I'm itching to replay Spider-Man 2 but not without all my upgrades.

Same I want to play again with NG+. Another thing that isn't helping is all of the click bait articles coming out about a narrative plot point that just isn't true, words from the devs are taken out of context and people run with it. Not that any of that stuff matters, these guys put out a great game that's gotten good reviews but has a few bugs to fix.

What is this?

What is this?
Guessing Gamma's referring to
the false narrative that Peter has retired and been replaced by Miles at the end of the game when what actually happens is Peter just decides to take a bit of a break to get the Peter Parker side of his life put back together.
A combination of idiots and bigoted idiots have really latched onto this one as an excuse to hate on Miles.

And there's no way in hell that anyone who believes that actually played the game.

So I've slowly been chipping away at this game over the last three weeks (36 year old father of two sub-4 year-olds). Just finished the ambush at Dr Connor's house we saw in the trailer. This game is...not doing it for me like the first game did. It plays like a guided tour at times in a "we have to keep their attention, just move it along" way, so it doesn't feel as fresh as the first game. All the out-of-suit-missions feel like filler material, and being asked to clean up Peter's house while my own was in disarray was a surreal experience.

Also, shoe-horning Miles in as a co-lead here was a miscalculation. Doesn't matter what time of day I play this, the Miles section of the game knocks me out cold. His story just isn't as interesting, and he's not nearly as charming/endearing as his Spider-Verse counterpart. I'm spending a ton of time with him grinding missions and skill points, and it's just not clicking. So when I try to move back to Peter and the game pivots me back to Miles again shortly thereafter, I'm less than enthused.

Also, and this is just a super-specific nitpick, but the amount of time it takes for the Triangle to appear on a Tech Box is maddening. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems like swinging or web-gliding is a different mode and the game needs a while to transition to on-foot activities.

The game is fine, but I understand the gripes with its content so far. Those criticizing the swinging mechanics and not being able to enter subway stations are ****ing idiots though.

They need to release game plus already. Not much replay value after you beat the game

Finished it the other day. Have two or three trophies left on the list to get the Platinum and then wait for the DLC.

Definitely an improvement in a lot of ways although some side quests felt kind of boring or too short. I finished one chain so abruptly I thought there was going to be more to it, but no, that was it. A special shout out to Howard's though. That was a good one.

Just finished it! Here are some thoughts:

About the DLC:
I haven't read all the comments here, but I'm surprised a lot are betting on Carnage to be the DLC villain. Since he's a very big and popular villain, I thought they'd save him for SM3, while Chameleon and Kraven's family would be the DLC villains.

But I also see people are apparently talking about Daredevil. I doubt it, but I would love to see him as a supporting character like Felicia, and maybe Kingpin as the DLC villain (although they'd be repeating a villain).

SM3:

I'm sure there plenty of villains to choose from, but I guess most of the most popular ones have been displayed. And some of them are either dead or "retired" now. So Green Goblin, Carnage, Chameleon and Morbius are some of the possible villains for the upcoming game. And while Ock and GG are two of the biggest names, I still think they'll try to set the bar even higher.

So because of that side mission, I was thinking the multiverse could be a part of the game. And Miguel a type of Symbiote Peter/Wraith type of boss.

Anyway, if they want to set up a new Sinister Six, Ock, Green Goblin, Mysterio, Chameleon, Kingpin are some of my choices to make it a little different from the first one. I was a bit disappointed with Mysterio anyway for not being part of the main story.

Last but not least, I would genuinely love Gwen as a playable character. Please, Insomniac.

Post-credit scene:
Honestly, I don't know what to expect from Silk. I don't know her from the comics and have no idea what they're setting up with her. It's likely big, since they introduced her as this big last surprise.

Other questions:

So what's the complete list of Kraven's victims? I catched Scorpion, Vulture and Shocker. Did anybody else died there? Electro, Rhino?

Does Felicia have a famous girlfriend in the comics? Can we expect something, or that was just to confirm her bisexuality? Because what she was doing felt important.

Do you guys think MJ could become Jackpot in the next game? MJ as Jackpot is another thing I know basically nothing about.

Oh, and speaking of Felicia, I loved that mission and that link to Strange and Wong. I'd love to see more connections like that to the Marvel Universe.

I thought the same thing about Carnage being saved for the third game but I finished that whole mission chain before beating the story. Once I saw that Ock would be back in the fold for Spider-Man 3 with at least one Goblin as the main villain, I'm kinda thinking that adding Carnage to that mix would be a bit too much for the next game, especially with how symbiote-heavy 2 was. I'd rather see him be the main focal point of a DLC than the third or fourth villain in the next game. But to your point, it could very well go the other way since the main villain for the first game's DLC was Hammerhead and he's a C-list villain at best. Chameleon being the main villain of this game's DLC would fit that same pattern if they'd rather showcase Carnage for the next game.

Scorpion, Vulture, Shocker and Electro were all killed by Kraven. I missed seeing Electro's gear in Kraven's camp during my playthrough but it was there with Vulture and Shocker's stuff. Rhino is the only one who's still technically alive although his head was seen mounted on a wall via a glitch when the game came out (I think it's since been patched)so they must have planned to kill him off too before they changed their minds. Personally it would have made more sense to kill off Rhino. As a giant dude in a Rhino suit, he should have been # 1 on Kraven's kill list. Besides that he was already in the first game and Miles Morales so it's not like he'd be terribly missed.

I agree with you about Carnage. It feels a little "off" to portray him in the next game, since this one was so heavy on the symbiote. I guess it would've been better to put him on this game in, maybe on Scream's place, which to be honest felt a bit rushed to me.

I would have saved Mysterio for the next one too.

But if Carnage is the DLC villain, that does not leave that many big new names left, I guess. Sure Ock and GG are massive villains, one of them was already the major antagonist of the first game.

That's why I'm feeling the multiverse might be part of the next game. With multiple Spiders and probably alternate versions of previous villains.

Oh and thanks for the answer. I missed Electro there.

Edit:

Unless they're planning a Miles Morales 2 before SM3. So I guess the multiverse would be featured there.

Sorry, just one more thing.

I liked fighting the Sinister Six much, much more than fighting Kraven and Venom.

It felt more dynamic and challenging to face Rhino>Scorpio>Vulture>Electro and then Ock.

Dude gets cooler all the time. :D
oh yeah. Abel is low key a nerd.

anyway, I'm excited for the inevitable PC release of this game, just so the OG Peter Parker's face can be modded in. I know that was done almost immediately when the first game launched on PC.
