Just today i downloaded what i consider the precious few decent episodes of WB's The Batman, among them Night and the City, which really got me thinking about the next movie. It has Joker, Penguin and Riddler and the police force vying in competition to get Batman first. Ive always like the series portrayal of the Riddler,at least character wise (questionable goth look is up for debate). What if thats how the next movie was , taking place maybe a year after dark knight, when various freaks have risen, chief among them penguin and riddler and they race the police and each other to capture and kill Batman, with the riddler having set ingenious technologically aided traps around the city , and the penguin relying on old fashioned criminal tactics in contrast? But obviously done in Nolan's style, im not advocating a cartoony/campy, spot on translation of "The Batman" . The logistics of the plot just appealed to me.

That's a pretty cool concept. I'd like to see the usual Batman dynamic turned on its head so that he's the hunted throughout the movie instead of the hunter. I really don't like Penguin though so I'd replace him with someone else. Probably Black Mask since he's also kind of a gangster, or possibly Deadshot.

I like Penguin. How about Penguin hiring Deadshot?

If the next film were Batman by Burton or Shumacher, I'd say great idea.
I hope to God that Nolan never stoops to adapting a "The Batman" episode concept for the film series.

im not asking for a spot on adaptation, just something in that vein, obviously with done nolan's respect towards realism in design, superior dialogue, and logical plotting. Just because the series was crappy for the most part doesnt mean there were zero good ideas in its entire run. I know acting so above "The Batman" probably makes you look like a hardcore fan in your eyes, but a real fan can appreciate beauty in the mythos wherever it lies.

Which episodes were they? I wanna see 'em.

well in my opinion the aforementioned "Night and the City" , "Strange New World" the fourth season episode where Hugo Strange unleashes the zombie epidemic, "Two of a Kind" , the Harley episode, really only worth it for the hilarious "Settin The Wooods on Fire" montage, and the two Riddler eps "Riddled" and "Riddler's Revenge". A good bulk of the fourth season is watchable, especially the robin introductory arc. one must remember it is geared toward small children or tweens.

Any places where I can watch them?

You don't have to answer in here.

I stopped reading at "Inspired by The Batman..."

What's this thread about?

No, I dislike Penguin sufficiently that I want him nowhere near the third film, even if it involves him hiring Deadshot.

Yet you felt compelled to reply here instead of reading a paragraph?

Anyway, yeah, Season 4 was pretty excellent and Season 2's Night & The City was surprisingly good for a villains teamup episode. It had one of my favorite lines from the show.

Joker: Riddler, huh? You stealing my shtick?

Riddler: I tell riddles. Not jokes.

Not great on paper, but the contempt in Robert Englund's voice was excellent.

Yeah, I personally liked "The batman"...aside from poor character design on the joker. I thought they had pretty awesome stories. Pretty far fetched, but good none the less. definetly it's more of a burton or schumacher film.

i loved the show, it was different like the ultimate marvel universe.

Joker gets alot of crap cuz of the "dreadlocks" and bare feet. I thought they were nice touches for a dapper fellow who's supposed to be bat**** crazy.

"Not great on paper, but the contempt in Robert Englund's voice was excellent. "

Holy crap that has Robert Englund?

Anyways, I actually liked The Batman, you just have to learn to appreciate different artistic interpretations and not be so friggin' narrow minded. Remember, if everyone stayed to the original designs then nothing revolutionary would ever happen.

I love how Batman in The Batman is almost like the Goddamned Batman. I remember an episode where Bats catches a villain in mid air and throws him down across a building top, the villain goes "how'd you do that?" he says "I'm the Batman"

it was great.

I like the idea the original guy had too BTW.

finally, we who somewhat ( i heavily stress somewhat)appreciated the series can speak without fear! excelsior! i think though when i created this thread i shouldve altered the title. its just that this certain plot really got me going, maybe its because of the fact that in the second season of the batman, batman is pretty much in the same spot hes in at the end of the dark knight, public enemy number one, and the combo of villains, penguin and riddler, who are always heavily rumored for the sequel (based only on assumption though really) is what sparked these thoughts. as i watched the episode, i nolanized it in my head as it went along, and thought it could work.

I enjoyed the later seasons of The Batman quite a bit.

Anyways I would love to see Batman whip batarangs and smoke pellets around in Batman 3 the way he does in The Batman.

If they use Black Mask for the next film, they should try to mimic the all-white suit with the skull mask design from the show. That's one my favorite designs from "The Batman", and even LEGO Batman used it.

The Batman was f**king awful, and they need to not do anything that that poorly scripted, poorly drawn, Americ-Anime bulls**t did.

I like the idea of The Riddler from The Batman, that style Riddler being in a Nolan movie, I could see it. But I don't want Penguin to have anything to do with Nolan's movies. Black Mask on the other hand, now that would be impressive.

So you want a Riddler who doesn't tell riddles half the time, looks like he raided Marilyn Mansons make up kit, and sounds like Freddy Kruger? No thanks...

Thank you! My only favorite episode of that whole series was the zombie episode. Otherwise, it was too damn kiddy and basically cudgeled and flogged "BTAS."
