I think that the JLA movie is a great Idea. For many years Cinematic superheroes have acted independently with absolutely no allusion to the much more grandiose world that they occupy.

Spider-Man, The X-Men, Daredevil, etc have had absolutely no mention of each other. Not even a daily bugle report on mutants at least! It would have been nice to see Peter Parker as the photographer at the Fantastic Four's wedding or to have Wolverine casually bump into Matt Murdock on the street. Something anything to show these characters inhabit a world bigger and more extraordinary than our own. That's their whole reason for being.

JLA is a wonderful Idea, If the movie is actually good imagine all the smaller characters that could get their chance to shine in a Justice League Unlimted type Sequel. We're talking, Red Arrow, Fire & Ice, Zatanna, Plastic Man, Elogated Man, Booster Gold, Blue beetle, Captain Atom, Steel, Red Tornado, Doctor Fate, etc!

If they pull this off correctly, as I sincerely hope they do, this could open up a whole new world of possibilities for lesser known, but much deserving characters. :woot:

Then you haven't been paying close enough attention. Spider-Man mentioned Dr. Strange by name, in addition to having a rumored Punisher cameo. Fantastic Four shows Dr Victor Von Doom standing alongside Colonel William Stryker in a photo. Fantastic Four novelization makes a slight reference to J.Jonah.Jameson (thereby linking with Spider-Man). And of course Stan Lee and his recurring cameos.

Except in this case we won't be getting a cohesive Universe as it seems, at this point, Batman and Superman will be younger versions and also unconnected with Bale or Routh. Sorry, no dice.

AND

We dont even know if the versions of the other characters in JLA will be connected with their eventual solo films.

The script for Shaun Levys Flash was turned in before the 2nd JLA draft; they may not be connected at all.

Its all a convoluted mess.

A new Flash script was turned in? WTF!! Did any of Goyer's ideas make it into the new draft?

If WB could somehow make it clear that the Justice League movie is a different continuity than the individual properties, the possibilities would be endless. I don't see how that can really be accomplished though. Can anyone think of when anything like that has ever been done? As much as thought bothers me, you would actually have to recast Bats and Supes for that to work. All ties to other movies would have to be severed in order to make it less confusing.

No, I can't think of anytime when something like that has been done, but then again that's what makes this so exciting, to me anyway. I equate this to something similar to what is being done on The Incredible Hulk. Something of a new beginning without completely destroying the old. Now where Superman is concerned he could do with a good spring cleaning thanks to the mess that was Singerman Returns, Now yes, batman seems to be doing alright at the moment but his uber-realism is getting a bit old.

Perhaps, JLA is the springboard to making the classic interpretations of these characters? More faithful costumes, Stories even more true to the classic interpretations of the characters, etc.

I don't know. I can only hope that they will see the infinite possibilities that this film brings to the table of their Superhero Franchises.

Who Knows...we may even get Solo TV shows based on members JLA and the film continuity? How cool would it be to have 5 different super hero television show spin offs with These characters makign gues appearances every other week? It could be BIGGER than NBC's HEROES, my fav show BTW. Or perhaps a JLA live action show with lesser known leaguers? How fantastic would that be? :woot:

I see no reason why solo films need be "connected" to a JLA film. I don't mind mentions of other heroes, but not specific heroes. Each hero should be able to stand alone, really.

Probably not. It was the one written for the Shaun Levy film

The DC Creative Media Rep confirmed it was turned in at SDCC and in the works.

Exactly. There's really no way the script of a Superman could be better with a fleeting mention of a Batman in Gotham City. It could work as ONE, subtle joke in the script, but any more than that and it just derails the entire narrative and takes the audience out of the movie.

Using characters who already have solo properties is already interconnectivity. Having Batman and Superman in a movie while they have their own films which work in tandem with other films does just that. And if this film fails, ultimately it will reflect poorly on their properties as well.
