People keep saying Pirates will compete with SR. I don't buy it. They are two types of movies, yes, but that means either 1) audiences will see POTC -or- SR 2) audiences will see both. Its an either/or probability problem, we just don't know the statistics to predict whats going to happen one way or another. If the trailer delivers, there is no reason why audiences won't go see BOTH. But if its box office domination for sheer revenue, then who knows.

SR could make 400 million dollars but it probably won't because the film isn't being properly marketed.

Spiderman made 400 million The Phantom Menace made 400 million after a 16 year wait, Superman could but it will probably make about 325-350 if it makes that much. The marketing for the film has been HORRIBLE.

What scares me about SR total is that if it only makes about 300 million the buget will be likely be cut by the cheapskates at WB for the sequels. The film cost 185 mil to make so 300 isn't a lot. If it makes under 300 million the movie will be considered a financial flop. You can bet your life on that.

It would be a disaster to because the sequels will probably need more or at least the equal amount of $ to make considering they'd be featuring super villians such at Metallo or Brainiac ect ect..................

I share the same opinion. I want Superman Returns to be the big blockbuster this year, but I think Pirates is going to be taking it home. The first one did so well, and I know of a lot of people going to watch it again because of Depp.
