Interstellar - Part 10

Domestic production studios get most of the domestic profits, but in a number of cases foreign profits get spread out to foreign distribution studios and other places.

Studios get approximately 55% of the domestic box office gross. (Whether this amounts to “profit” is a separate calculation.) Foreign BO, as you say, is different and more complicated. I’ve heard that studios collect less than 50% (sometimes much less) of these revenues. So for overall grosses, “50%” is a reasonable/rough rule-of-thumb in terms of what the studios bank.

Third act was beautiful.

I watched it 7 times. Like most of Nolan's movies. You have to take time to think about it and see it again. I was the same with dkr, prestige, momento, and bb. You leave not knowing how you feel about it then once you think about it in detail it is even more stimulating.

So is it considered a success or not?

I think the domestic numbers are probably considered disappointing - compared to the Batman films and Inception. That said, Paramount (who owns domestic distribution) is looking at a modest profit. Co-financer WB (foreign distribution) is happier. :word:

Cool I saw that mine shipped on like the 7th and that I should get it around the 12-17 or something. I was wondering when this would come out. I really wonder what special features the dvd will come with when it comes out.

Jesus Matthew looks like a homeless man with that beard.

So awesome to hear the original demo track that Hans created for Chris to listen to.

Welp, it got a few obligatory tech noms. No Hoyte for cinematography.

Very happy for Zimmer. IMO he should be the clear front-runner to win, but for some reason I suspect he won't. But he really deserves it this year.

5 nomination. It's very good!
But... without Hoytema? So sad.

Anne Hathaway is looking absolutely stunning.

She's looking like her former self from back in the Devil Wears Prada days. So fine. :hrt:
