Interview regarding the Live Action Bleach film

I don't know why they just grab a series that's popular AND much easier to adapt to Western sensibilities, like Fullmetal Alchemist for example.

Hopefully they dont plan to change EVERY facet of bleach because it's concepts have enough "cool factor" to get people to go see it provided that it's marketed well and delivers as a quality film

This is one of the properties that WB was considering as their next franchise after Harry Potter.

Figures they seem to want a trilogy out of these three things at the moment: Bleach, Death Note, and Mortal Kombat to fill the void of Harry Potter, Lord of The Rings, and Nolan's Batman films. but that's just me speculating here.

Now here is the territory I recommend them covering for the Bleach film

- Ichigo can see ghosts and hollows since he was a child and that he can never allow himself to stand by while people are being hurt due to the death of mom

- The sight of Rukia fighting off another hollow and then her later coming to his room to explain the basis of what a Soul reaper does

- Ichigo borrowing Rukia's Zanpakuto and becoming a soul reaper to protect his family by killing his first hollow but only show the missions that help explain more about being a soul reaper and the hollows.

- Rukia becoming Ichigo's mentor and showing him the ropes of being a Soul reaper due to her power being drained

- The introduction of Orhime, Chad, and Uryu but not necessarily covering all the territory of their episodes, however, the catch would be to introduce Uryu as a character relatively early in the film as already being a student since he kind of came out of nowhere in the anime.

- Ichigo visiting his mother's grave for the anniversary of her death and the Grand fisher battle as well as the Rukia getting a warning from another Soul reaper.

- Rukia's growing attachment to Ichigo and his friends due to spending so much time with them.

- A compressed version of the Quincy vs Soul Reaper rivalry and the hollow contest that causes the Menos Grande invasion and Orihime/Chad's gaining of powers.

and here are the episodes they can do without as a whole:

- Episode 3

- Episode 4

- Episode 5

- Episode 6

- Episode 7

- Episode 10

^ I like that. I think there would be plenty of running time to cover all of those events without feeling rushed or shortchanging anybody.

Indeed because it cuts it down to fit a two hr timeslot and has no need for unnecessary buildup of any kind to the sequel necessarily...however they could show Renji and Byakuya's silhouettes after the credits roll.

So how to do the Soul Society arc? Even with a trilogy, it'd be difficult to adapt with all the gazillion subplots and characters introduced.

Well if you're going to adapt the Soul Society Arc, I think you just need to keep the subplots that aren't arbitrary and introduced some of the extra characters in small cameos or mentioning them....

If any of the characters in that arc need some kind of plot involvement in the movie it would be(not counting Ichigo, Rukia, and the gang): Yoruichi, Hitsugaya, Rangiku, Renji, Byakuya, Momo Hinamori, Sosuke Aizen, Ichimaru, Ganju, Kaname Tosen, and Kukaku

and if it needs more than that go the "2 parter" route...

Actually I take that back....Ichigo's angle should be there but he should take the backseat to the arc involving Aizen, Ichimaru, Momo, Rangiku and Hitsugaya or make it take the Sin City format.

I like that idea, i thin that one thing that should be changed would be for Ichigo's mother to have not been killed by a hollow, with it having been an accident from when Ichigo started to see ghosts. If you want a personal fight between a hollow and one of the main characters it could be Orihime's brother.

That said, i doubt this will be even made, the guy interested in this doesn't seem like somebody that can easily get any project he wants, while it would be cheapest of the 3 big animes (One Piece, Naruto and Bleach) to make into a movie, and wouldn't really cost much money to make, i don't think the studios will give it a chance.

Nest there is the fact that it is inspired by japanese mythology, which could actually be interesting to see in an american blockbuster, and it has ery japanese names, it's possible that they would try to change the names, then fans would be extremely angry with those choices and the studio will stop the project fearing it might become another Dragon Ball Evolution disaster.

I think the movie has even less chances of being made than the Evangelion one.
