Who else would really like a movie based on this comic? Every time I see something about the new Mark Wahlberg movie of the same title, I get kinda hopeful then pissed because I realize it's not the comic, just another generic sports movie.

Who would yall like to see play Invincible, his father, etc?

As I said in a thread a created recently, I really don't it will adapt to film well - for me personally at least. So much of what I love about the comic is in the art, and the long, protracted storylines...stuff that could never really be shown in a feature film. (I'd go nuts over an animated series, though.)

However, they are planning on making a movie of it. Apparently Kirkman's even going to write the screenplay himself.

I actually agree with what you said, but I just think Invincible is so much better than most of the comics that get movies made. I'm sure Kirkman can come up with something great.

I haven't thought TOO hard about this, but here are some of my choices:

Mark - Justin Long

Omni-man - Hugo Weaving

I don't see it working as a film. The uninitiated might perceive it as another "Incredibles" or "Zoom", or even "Sky High" with a twist.

I can see that happening. CConn's probably right that it would work better as an animated series.

Weird thing about it, though, is it's such an odd combination of cartoonish superhero style with violence and death that'd be hard to market either on tv or as a movie.

Also true. My prediction? They'd either amp up the violence to appeal to adults or (more likely) amp up the cartoon factor to appeal to kids. Either way it'd bomb.

Way I see it, most people would go in thinking of it as another Sky High or Incredibles, and then get a major shock when Omni Man graphicly murders the Global Gaurdians. Anyway, my choice for Omni Man:

I mean, he's Jon-****ing-Frakes. :o

ooh not bad. Not bad at all, Q.

I still like Weaving for it though.

Yeah both of those would be bad news. One of the reasons I like the comic so much is that it has that balance.

For it to appeal to kids, all they'd really need to do is tone down the violence a bit. You'd almost have a thinking man's Sky High. Colorful enough for kids, but smart enough for their parents to enjoy as well.

Like I said, no way would it be as good as the comic, or as good as an animated series would be, but it being a bomb? I'm not so sure of that.

they'd probably do away with the violence and make it more like Spider-Man. which, IMO, could work. it'd all depend on how the studio "sold" it to people. if they tried to make it more Sky High and less Spider-Man, it could easily bomb. otherwise, I'd say it's hard to predict.

on another note...

Tom Selleck as Omni-Man

also good. He could get the lighter side of the character as well as the hardcore side

But they can't do away with violence. The violence and cartoony nature of it combined are what make it great.

Like that's ever stopped a filmmaker from tampering with a formula.
