I wouldn't mind if they turned the dragon and the heart of the dragon into a very clever metaphore.
All these Netflix shows have been very grounded. I'm not sure they will have a giant CGI dragon.
It's just hard to see them going far with that angle, but I hope they do.
Even in Daredevil, they were so vague about what The Hand wanted and what Black Sky was.
People forget that when Iron Fist was created, he was a pretty grounded, street-level character, outside of the whole K'un-L'un thing. Look at the Marvel Premiere and the Power Man/Iron Fist stuff. He was a street-level character. I'm sure Marvel will find a way to balance both mysticism and grounded reality.
But if people are expecting the Seven Cities of Heaven or the Immortal Weapons right now, they're just setting themselves up for dissappoinment. I'm sure Marvel will be taking tonal inspiration from the Brubaker run, but content wise from earlier stuff. Let's just say he'll be spending more time with Misty and Colleen rather than Dog Brother #1 or Fat Cobra.
i'm not expecting seven cities of heaven or the immortal weapons. However, i would like it for them not to jettison all the k'un l'un and shao lao stuff entirely. Also the costume. He needs a costume and mask.
That's the trouble since we don't know how magic and mystical stuff going to be in mcu uet. As they haven't tapped intonit. We as fans don't really know how grounded or more comicbooky, they will actually take things.
Now yes the mcu have change things around or merged some characters intonone. And other little things. But the essence to characters and their backstory have been pretty close to what they should be. And since we see aliens, and the other realm beings really a dragon isn't that for from the norm to do. Again it's all about what they logically can pull off with the budget they have and work for story and what not. Plus again this isn't like got or other shows with fantasy beasts running around in every episode. It likely be 1 episode only and what maybe 2 scenes that be like less then 3 or 4 mins long.
So who's to say a real cgi physical dragon, or a cgi chi spirit take on dragon is not doable. We don't know a lock of what they are planning yet.
Game of Thrones averages around $6 million per episode apparently. That's about double what Iron Fist will have assuming the budget hasn't been altered since the successes of Daredevil and Jessica Jones.
that would be a major cop out on the backstory for danny if everything he did in kun lun was just a dream and not real i dont see them doing that.

Agreed. Iron Fist NEEDS the mysticism. The magic city, the dragon, the Immortal Weapons, all of it. Without them he's just a peppier version of Daredevil.

I agree but I have a feeling iron fist may not have the budget for that, at least for the first season.
Maybe the earlier suggestion that it might begin with everyone thinking Danny is crazy for believing in k'un lun and shou Lou etc but eventually the final reveal is that it's all true?
