No, they're not making a Iron Fist movie. TheVileOne is right. I have a feeling that Marvel is still trying to find the right angle for Iron Fist. That is the reason why they have not hire a showrunner yet. People speculate because there isn't any news. Trust me, that guy from bleeding cool isn't very trustworthy. He is hearing all these news from a freaking pub.

I wouldn't be worried about Iron Fist, not yet. Marvel knows what they're doing.

My concern is mainly why is the angle so hard to find IF that's the case.
 
If there were any plans to push back Iron Fist, I don't think Jeff Loeb would have brought up the fact that three of four Defenders were on stage.
 
Looked up the OUAT dragon through Google. It can be done. It works. I can see Shou Lao appear in an episode now. It won't look perfect but it can still tell the story in an accurate way and that's all I care about.

They've been best friends and a crime fighting duo before, Heroes for Hire, Avengers members, etc. Also, either way a movie is going to be way more expensive. Have to pay all that P&A money. I mean to me it makes no sense to move forward with a movie. They spent years trying to get an Iron Fist movie off the ground and it didn't happen. Why turn Iron Fist into a movie instead of Daredevil? The point is, these shows are about the New York street level heroes. The Avengers are the big picture, globe trotting heroes. THe Netflix heroes are the street level ones dealing with stuff in New York and Hell's Kitchen. That's typically where Iron Fist resides. That's where Rand Industries is headquartered, et al.

Not saying I believe the rumors but altering there plans and still doing Iron Fist wouldn't be hard.

Just swap Heroes for Hire with Iron Fist as the series. Iron Fist just wouldn't get a solo series and have maybe one episode dedicated to his backstory.

Why would they do Heroes for Hire before Defenders?

It could have something to do with all the mystical aspects of IF's origin as it relates to such a grounded, gritty, street level approach to Defenders. Mystical cities, dragons and immortals are going to be tricky to introduce. Not saying it can't be done but the show runners may have to tread carefully for the non comic book reading audience. How would the fans react if the show runners took a Golden Child approach to Iron Fist? Just slightly mystical.

Yet they've already done some of this already with Stick and Stone on Daredevil. They have Thor interacting with Iron Man in Avengers. They are making a Doctor Strange movie. You can't always be scared of this.

Also, Iron Fist is really not Golden Child. Just treat it more like Enter the Dragon. Rand is the world's foremost, most badass martial artist who knows secret techniques that have been lost to time. Yet like Bruce Lee in that film, he can still work and operate in the modern and real world, but he's also still a Shaolin monk you know? Again, Brubaker and Fraction I feel really laid the groundwork for how easily it could be pulled off. You already had that lady from K'un L'un who was part of the drug trade. We know there are corrupt and evil people who hail from K'un L'un. That's happened before. They were obviously trying to get a foothold into Hell's Kitchen to sell their narcotics.

Actually, everything you said is what I was talking about, slightly mystical. I used Golden Child as an example because it's street level and still uses elements of Asian mysticism, it doesn't have to follow the template exactly. Enter the Dragon, although excellent, isn't a good example if we're talking mysticism b/c it has none. If we're talking martial arts, then of course, by all means.

Besides, I was only offering that explanation as a possible reason why there might be a "perceived hesitancy". For all we all know there may be nothing that's an obstacle for Marvel at all. There's plenty of time to give us all an update concerning their plans for Iron Fist.

Golden Child is a bad Eddie Murphy movie.

Just saying the tone of Iron Fist should be kind of like Enter the Dragon. Sort of like old timey martial arts in the modern, real world. Also the threats and bad guys in Iron Fist don't have to be mystical every episode. The guy that killed Danny Rand's parents in the comics and stole his company was a regular dude.
 
Golden Child is pretty bad, and one of the few miscues of 80s Eddie Murphy.
 
Just saying, that's not something they should try and emulate.

Let's not get hung up on a discussion about Golden Child. I'm talking about the mystical aspects of the film as they relate to Eddie's character, who was a street level good guy. As the film progressed , you could begin to accept the mystical aspects the film was presenting. No where am I saying IF should be exactly like the Golden Child.

Now I'm not talking about IF's individual episodes, I'm talking about his origins. At some point in time, the mystical aspects of his beginning is going to have to be addressed unless Marvel chooses to alter it for a more grounded realistic approach. At any rate, I've given my opinion on it. It's all good.
 
it's a little annoying that so little info has been announced yet. No casting, no showrunner, etc. NYCC has come and gone and no news. Now what, San Diego 2016?
