Iron Fist Iron Fist General Discussion Thread - Part 1

We learned who the showrunner for Luke Cage was almost 2 months after Jessica Jones went into production. If we don't get any announcements for Iron Fist in the next month or so, that might be cause to start worrying.

Keep in mind that, when they started, they didn't know Daredevil would get a second season so soon. Combined with the fact that Netflix has no deadlines or timetables tells me they want to get it right rather than quick. So I don't think we should assume "well, this is what happened on two other occasions, so it always has to be that way."

Just as they decided to move forward with Daredevil Season 2 in 2016, isn't it just as likely that something could've happen to curtail Iron Fist?

I really don't buy these rumors and I'm still confident that Iron Fist is getting his series. BUT, the only thing that slightly worries me is that it seems like Danny won't be appearing in Luke's series which seems like a big mistake to me. I mean, it seems like a no-brainer to at least introduce Danny in Luke's show so that it leads into his own series just like how Luke is being introduced in Jessica Jones. Luke and Danny are best friends so it'd be weird not to see him and Luke interact in Luke's series, no?

They'll interact plenty on Defenders though? Then afterwards maybe their shows can be combined.

Some rumors are worth listening to and entertaining, this one is not.

Iron Fist is still my most anticipated of all the Netflix shows. Danny has one of the absolute best superhero origin stories.

I agree Danny should be introduced in Luke's series and I think he will. He may not be a series regular but I think 2-3 episodes would be sufficient.

So now, Screenrant is saying that they're not doing a series, but rather a Netflix original movie due to budgetary reasons, and that a Punisher show will still take its place.

Bummer. Iron Fist was my most anticipated of Netflix shows (Daredevil, aside).

That rumor was already discussed on the previous page, Screenrant is just reposting the rumor from PeeltheOrange. There is no official announcement or any other sources.

It's the same story from Peel the Orange. It's not Screenrant saying it.

I hope Marvel/Netflix are close to picking a showrunner and announce it. Just so that this rumor can die already.

I'm not mad at that  . We still get to see live action IronFist AND Punisher gets another chance to shine. I think they'll probably wait to see how well Punisher is received in Daredevil before the green light his own show.

LC is halfway through filming though, I think we'd have heard a casting annuncement if Danny was in LC.

I really hope they make Iron Fist or at the very least include him in the Defenders. I think he's potentially the most interesting character to adapt out of the Netflix heroes. I can understand if the rumour about swapping Iron Fist out for a Punisher series is true if they're liking what they're seeing and a series centred on Frank Castle could be a lot simpler to make, but I think Iron Fist would be much bigger if pulled off right. Plus I doubt they would have Frank as a Defender. A recurring guest, sure, but not on the team.

I would actually prefer a Punisher show over an Iron Fist one to be honest

Ditto

I want 13 hour episodes of Danny.

Frank Castle has had his moment of glory, 3 movies worth, AND he's going to be featured in DD season 2.

Time to see something different.
We've never seen anything like Rand's story.
Not done right anyway.

Iron Fist was BY FAR the Netflix show I was most looking forward to when this deal was announced. My entire reaction to that announcement was basically, "hey those others could be cool, but OMG IRON FIST IS COMING." So yeah, I'll be extremely bummed if there's any truth to these rumors, but I'm not buying into them yet. If we haven't heard anything in a month, then I'll start worrying.

I don't care for punisher at all. I think it's ridiculous he can try and fail three times in a row and still get more opportunities but whenever people talk about female lead films they mention two crap films from more than a decade ago as a reason not to try again despite many other successes in that time.

The three failed movies wasn't an issue for me as the Daredevil movie was a disgrace and look how the TV show turned out. For me, Iron Fist is a far more complex story than Punisher with the potential for rich supporting characters and one of the best mythologies in the Marvel cinematic universe. When weighed against that, Punisher - who cares?
