Iron Fist Iron Fist General Discussion Thread - Part 1

Oh come on really the budget reason is not the issue. It's more what is the story we need to yell. And again dragon thing would be a one time thing. And the city all we need is some establishing tibetan city in the mountains and then some tibetan building sets. That is so easy. Like aos did for afterlife.

Dragon is the harder thing. But come on we got aliens and armored suit guys running around on mcu now. A dragon is nothing. More so there is ways to do dragon both pratical and with cgi even on a smaller budget. And really we wouldn't need a dragon for 52 mins of an episode. At most if we see the fight with dragon and him getting powers which is a given. It likely be 2 to 3 min squence.

The synopsis just released from marvel doesn't sound like they'll do much fantasy stuff. It sounds mostly street level with occasional powers.

To be honest, I would have preferred they go with a different tone for iron fist since its leading up to the defenders but we'll have to wait and see.

It's good news to finally get some good news! Buck's hiring doesn't really give any hints towards whether they will focus on more of the Asian fantasy stuff though or what the casting will be like.

Not thrilled with the choice but it could be worse, and tbh I'm just happy we finally have some progress.

I'm exactly the same way

Corporate conspiracy should be one of the storyline themes for this series imo :D

well there we go now. After all the crazy rumors of late that oh the sow is dropped, or punisher going to replace fist. Oh it will be a netflix movie. We finally getting some details out of the show. The basic synopsis sounds nice. As for the showrunner. I never seen his past shows he worked on. But from what he said about danny. I am curious to see what he brings to the table. And cant wait to see what they do.

Silver as for the description its just a bare bones basic plotline. Of course it wont reveal everything. And we know he will have his iron fist power. Again kunlun is likely to be seen once or twice in flashback. Then maybe a episode set in present day. Along with we dont really need to see much from the city to still keep the more gritty netflix marvel feel. I seriously doubt they would skip out on kun lun, the dragon stuff, or mysticism.

So with Scott Buck doing this, I wonder what character Michael C. Hall will end up playing. ;)

Scott Buck was a writer/co-producer on Seasons 2-4 of Dexter, which is great. On the other hand, he was the showrunner for the last couple of seasons which was, not so great.

I've been hoping Michael C Hall plays Norman Osborn

so he had Harry around 28 or 29? I could dig it.
I always wanted Kevin Bacon as Osborne, but you can't exist in a universe you exist as yourself in as a character who isn't yourself haha
shame really.

EDIT: Michael C Hall as Orson Randall!

ya i said it in other board if Kevin bacon was to be in a mcu film he has to be playing himself lol. And starlord has to meet him lol. Hall would be cool to be in the mcu. But i dont know who i ultimately want him to be if he did a movie.

how on earth did the thread get THIS FAR off topic?

I don't know how reliable this site is, but the interesting thing is they posted character casting breakdown and production information:

Not many details on the show have been uncovered…until now. Our sources indicate that the Iron Fist show is moving through pre-production with a tentative shoot date set for around April in New York. The project is going under the codename “Kick.” Not only that, casting on the series has already begun, with character breakdowns of two primary characters recently surfacing. Here are the descriptions of two series regulars for the upcoming Marvel series.

DYLAN KENDALL
25 – 28 yrs old Handsome and sophisticated, independent and a loner. SERIES REGULAR

HARRY MARSHALL
45 – 50 yrs old Caucasian, highly intelligent, merciless, confident and arrogant, physically active. SERIES REGULAR

Dylan Kendall is definitely Danny Rand. I do hope they don't really play up the whole 'loner' aspect they mentioned to set him apart from other characters. Danny always seemed to me like a guy who likes being around others. Maybe we'll see him open up more?

Harry Marshall really sounds like Harold Meachum. Makes me wonder if he'll be the main antagonist or one of many?

never heard of them either. But cool find if it is real info. That character is the dude who was his dad partner right. IF so and with that character's back story it would be likely main "Villain" type role. Like jerri was a bit in jessica jones and so forth.

Harry Marshall is obviously Harold Meachum. Who else could he be?

The fact that Iron Fist's race isn't mentioned as a requirement fits with everything else we've heard. That helps lend it some credibility.

Well first we don't even know validity of this site news. And second we already heard according to the thr article they are likely going with a white. Just cause it isn't listed doesn't automatically mean they are looking for just non whites. They may have and might still but likely end up with white. Sorta like during the spidry casting debating on a possible race change. In end they where always going for white peter. But there was certain reports thst stated non white actors did test.

Right. But another report from the Hollywood Reporter indicates that, while they're likely going with a caucasian actor, they brought in Asian actors as well. The fact that this site says the casting call for the Danny Rand character didn't list a race gives it credibility because, if it did, they wouldn't be bringing in actors of different races to audition.

My whole point was, while we don't know the validity of the site, that bit of information bolsters its credibility. I'm not getting into the whole debate of who they should cast. I'm relatively indifferent on that and just want them to cast someone soon.

It still likely be white guy. I just see no real need to race bend rand. When he doesn't need to be. It just changes his whole background and cultural views. Against what he is. And you have a wide range if ethnic heroes, villains, supporting folks who can fill that quota.

The Harry Marshall description fits Orson Randall as well. If they're drawing from the Fraction run and Danny needs a mentor to help him get a handle on his new Iron Fist powers, he'd be a good fit.

There's a whole other thread for this subject. It doesn't need to be discussed here. I was only debating whether the info from the point of geeks website is legitimate.

Dexter and 6 feet under seem tonally different from Iron Fist, but they're both great so its still exciting.

I can't wait for them to cast Danny. He'll probably be someone no one saw coming

no reason we shouldnt see that character, same goes for misty knight who i believe is showing up in the luke cage show. Then we should at least see or mention to the shang chi guy. I am sure marvel would want to put some light on a few minority guys.

I'm pulling for Charlie Hunnam as Danny Rand.

Steven Yeun or Stephen Chow as Shang Chi.
