I'd like Marvel to strongly consider Shang Chi on the big screen. That'll also help keep the two characters distinct.

But where would you put him. Do you make him a secondary character in another film like doctor strange. Or what have you. Or do you think they would give him a solo.

Would be nice but with the current trend of mcu films going on the more cosmic side. Unfortunately I don't see Shang chi being a character for a solo at this time. Even though it would be cool.

Honestly... I think Shang Chi would work best as they are doing with Luke Cage. Start out a small role with a mysterious background, then leave for his own show.

It would be cool to me if, should they not use him in the IF show, have him could out as an ally to the Defenders as he fights their opponent, too, and sort of SURPRISE! and make him the 5th Defender.

A guy can dream, right?

I'm pulling for Charlie Hunnam as Danny Rand.

Steven Yeun or Stephen Chow as Shang Chi.

I think Garret Hedlund is honestly more likely. Looking at Charlie Cox and Kristen Ritter, they seem to go for known- but not SUPER OVER WELL KNOWN- actors. People with some lead, or some blockbuster experience, and acting chops. As such, Hedlund, who is.. not having success, though on no fault of his own, with Tron and Pan. Now, to be fair, Hunnam is pretty open after Sons of Anarchy, and he has shown acting chops, as well as a liking for action roles (Pacific Rim, SoA). Either could be considered, but I feel Hedlund is more likely of the two... which leaves my 'likely' short list to be Hedlund, Hunnam, or Phillipe.

I gained a TON of respect for Phillipe's acting ability with Secrets and Lies, and knowing he is already with ABC, knowing he knows martial arts (and unless he was lying), he has been in talks with Netflix and Marvel.

Anyway, here I am ultimately hoping that Danny Rand is fun, charismatic, smart if odd, blonde (or looks good blonde dyed), and cut.

In a perfect world Jason Statham would be Orson Randall and Donnie Yen would be Shang Chi. Not like it'll ever happen but it would be really epic.

Donnie yen is a bit too old for Shang chi. If you wanted to bring Shang chi into the show then I think you could introduce him as a mysterious spy trying to break up a deal between his father's crime ring and an iron fist villain.

ya they likely end up getting someone between 25-30 tops for the role. So they can lock in the guy to play the role for at least 5-8/10 yrs tops.

I bought and read The Fury of the Iron Fist Collection, The Immortal Iron Fist Complete Collection 1 and 2.

After reading these, the anticipation to this Netflix series is really high.

Does anybody have the Iron Fist: The Return of K'un Lun Collection? Is this any good?

I keep looking at various websites every few hours to see.. I can feel it being near.

ya i am sure it will be revealed soon. As i bet the plan likely will be for it to film in the fall like luke cage is. Then probably during its filming or right after its filming they do filming for defenders. With fist season 1 airing with defenders next yr. So iron fist likely be march/may release. Then defenders likely fall release.

well i figure this likely isnt shooting o maybe mid to late summer. So it be great if casting did get revealed in next few weeks. But if shooting does end up not starting to like july-sept range we could see casting not revealed to at least may/june.
