Iron Man Iron Man: Video Game *Update*

each day I think more and more that this game will fail horribly.
and now that I've seen the gameplay...it seems worse.
just flying, flying, shooting, flying, shooting, flying...

it'll be like Superman Returns. fun in the first 10 minutes, then it gets incredibly repetitive and annoying.

Yeah...

I mean. I'm trying so hard to like this game. I have it reserved and everything, too. But catching myself saying things like "this isn't THAT bad" and "it's just a demo, after all" isn't a good sign. It really is repetitive as hell. I dunno. I generally don't go by reviews, but I'm going to wait to read some first...

Been playing the demo a lot- lots of fun- not the most impressive game ever, but worth picking up, IMO.

I probably enjoy it more than others, due to my interest in IM...but I quite like this game, a lot. It isn't super, but it isn't awful. Can't go wrong with flying around freely, landing beside tanks and ripping them apart
I'll so be using that Extremis suit when I get it, for sure.

Superman Returns doesn't have unlockable suits that give you different way to play the game, though.

the curse of the movie game is looking more and more likely with this game. I'm already planning on getting Mario Kart instead of this.

For those who have played the demo can you tell me this, what exactly are the flying controls? What do you press/do in order to fly?

Well, the hover option (admittedly...) is a bit complicated to use, as Tony can't stay hovering in one place. If I remember, it's 'left trigger' on the 360 for flying, and the second for hovering. Also, you can press 'a' to boost whilst flying. I think that's right, if anyone can correct me, go nuts.

The left control stick is for movement and the right is the camera yeah?

you can hover in one place, just half hold the left trigger

Yeah, it's not complicated once you get used to it. Like I said in another thread, I'm not a hard core gamer, not even close, yet I was able to figure out the controls pretty quickly. Once I got the hang of it, the game is enjoyable.

That's the thing, I'd say many people just got frustrated playing the demo because they didn't give enought time to get used to the controls. I also don't really get people complaining about the game being all about flying around and shooting things - what exactly did they expect when the main character in the game is a man with a flying suit that has built in weapons?!

The demo level is level 3 of the game aswell. You get the Mark 2 suit for level 2 so I'm sure there'll be some sort of training intro to flying.

I remember first playing Superman Returns and the flying controls took me a while to get used to aswell, I was smashing into buildings and flying down when I wanted to fly up etc.

Just noticed on the demo - the more you get hit by weapon fire, the more battle scars you get on your suit. That's a pretty cool feature.

I saw a commercial for it earlier, and they showed the boxart.. it looked awesome from what I saw.

It isn't worth waisting 59 bucks i would probably go to a blockbuster and just rent it.

Short Summary

the flying is kinda hard to maneuver the action does get a bit repetitive. But if you like blowing things up this is your type of game. Flying is fun especially if you have a rumble it feels nice when you go "Supersonic". The only thing i had a problem was aiming. The Graphics are great. RDJ's voice as Stark is cool. The Best part is you don't die.

i give it a 7/10

Controls
- For PS3 ground Circle is to Punch Triangle is to shoot. I dont remember What Square did i don't think it did anything. X is pretty fun you basically hover faster or dodge stuff using your flight ability. But when you are flying and press X you fly alot faster
You can use the uni beam on ground and air and you can shoot regularly

-Flying L1 is to Fly L2 is to Hover R2 is to shoot R1 is to us your uni beam or you can hold it to charge it.

Sadly, I got used to the controls right away... but the game just really... really... sucks. :csad:

I could play the whole game, and unlock more suits, but when the core game isn't fun, theres no reason to play it to unlock more suits.

well that's your opinion and you're entitled to it, me on the other hand thought this was a pretty solid demo. Is it Halo or GTA or another highly rated game, no, but I'm going to buy it and enjoy it.

But it for damn sure doesn't suck.

Though I am not into Halo or GTA (but that is more of a taste... thing) they are solid... this is not.

This does indeed to me... suck. Now on the fan level I still find some enjoyment in it and had it been placed at $15-20 dollars, I'd rush out to get it.

Visuals are nice nothing extravagant but definitely nice, but thats where my positives stop.

I am not telling you not to like it, I just am stating for me.. it sucks. :csad: It's not like I am trying to sway anyone out of it. Just stating my own dissatisfaction.

fair enough. :cwink:

to each his own as they say.

Well yeah, it's a movie game, rushed through production to capitize on the hype for the movie. They're really good enough to justify $60 on, especially when there's plenty of other high quality games being released like Mario Kart and GTA

Yes, yes I understand. I suppose maybe I relish in it a bit as I was actually fought with by many people on the Hulk Game forum, being told I had no idea what I was talking about when I called this very early on for both games.

It truly is sad, I wish they'd release a game way after the film, and give the game designers time to make a top notch game!

My thoughts on the Demo...

CRAP.

I honestly didn't like almost everything of the demo. The graphics were pathetic. Other then Iron Man's model everything looked REALLY BLAND. The backgrounds had no texture, not anything. And it was the same when you ran. The running was gag worthy, the controls were total crap that I felt like chopping my fingers off, Flying at full speed made me want to throw the controller at the wall, and...UGH! I seriously think the reviewers are going to rip on this...HARD. Can't really say much about it being too repetitive because it was only a demo but by the looks of it, it's going to be another CRAPTACULAR movie game.

Hard to say I was looking forward to this last year :csad:
