One thing I noticed in this movie not present in other super-flicks is that Tony lays into a hefty number of baddies. There was also a bunch of deaths caused by Stane. Does anyone have a body count they tallied up? I normally count when I'm watching a movie (a product of watching lots of action films) but I did do so this time. Also, did it seem much for a movie rated PG-13?

I wondered that too. Ya know, this might've been one of the very few comic book movies where the hero killed people in saving/protecting the innocent and himself. But I'm not sure. I couldn't tell, at the Gumira scenes (I think that's the name of the city), did he actually kill those guys with bullets or did he hit them with some kind of paralyzing darts or something?

I'm pretty sure every terrorist that ended up on the receiving end of Iron Man's fist, flames, pulse beams, rockets or bullets was a goner.

And it was awesome.. I love Spidey, Batman, etc. and their moral and ethical boundaries, but it is nice to see a superhero carve into the baddies without a moment's hesitation in the midst of battle in a PG-13 MOVIE. The only other one that really does this is when Wolverine goes bat crazy in the mansion scene during X2.

It was awesome.

I personally hate when superheroes kill. It's not their place to decide who should live and who should die especially if their "mission statement" includes upholding the law.

Tony revealing his identity at the end pretty much put him in a perfect position to be jailed for countless life sentences, now that I think of it.

He killed a bunch of terrorists. SHIELD put him on the payroll at the end, and Fury probably gave him a handshake and a hooker for doing it.

When in the film did he mention "upholding the law"? His mission statement was "to protect the people [he] put in harms way". If he really was about upholding the law he wouldn't be a vigilante, which is against the law.

And lastly, why would he be jailed? The only people who know the extent of what he did seem to be pretty much okay with it. Like it or not, no one'll be putting him away for it.

I don't think Iron Man killed anybody, at least not while he was in his Mark III suit in Afghanistan. His repulsor rays blasted all those guys away, not I don't think they died. It's like Cyclops' eye beams: they're not laser, they're "concussive force blasts." Even in the cave, he was just blasting guys away, except for the dude who shot himself in the head, I don't think he killed anyone. Maybe set some on fire and blew them up in the last explosion. But he did it to escape terrorists holding him captive, I'm pretty sure he won't go to jail for that.

Nah, alot of those dudes bit it in the cave scene. I say a good dozen or so died. The 2 from the door bomb, 1 against the exit door, 1 from a ricochet bullet, 1 from being leveled by the steel door, at least 3 on fire, and a bunch more blew up. I dont think his repulsor blast killed anybody, but that guy who got the wicked uppercut was a goner for sure, so were the hostage takers. I say IM killed at least 20 guys in the movie, which is so awesome!

i was shocked by how "in your face" the killing was in regards to the terrorist....the scene in afganastan where a woman and children would run into a house only to have a terrorist kick down the door and spray the place with bullets....that really caught me off guard.

That one dude that IM punched got the **** knocked out of him, I died laughin when I saw that, I give those flips the guy was doing afterwards 10/10

i loved when he targeted the 5 guyts using human shields....it was perfect! hahaha

I actually wondered that... If his repulsors caused fatalities, what exactly was shot from his shoulder canons...

i would like to think he killed them..otherwise whats the point of it? knock the terrorist unconscious so he can wake up afew hours later? does the repulsar ray also change his way of thinking? or is he just going to go back to being a terrorist?

wolverine killed people in x2 and x3, but because of the way it was filmed, it's probably less obvious...

Not when you kill terrorists, I could kill Osama bin Laden tommorrow and be rewarded rather than punished.

Iron Man was fighting in a war zone, that means the rules of engagement for war were in place, which means you can kill your enemies. Iron Man is international hero, so international rules, rather than just American ones apply.

agreed...

My favorite part was actually when Iron Man grabs the bearded terrorist and throws him to the people.

"He's all yours."

You know beat they living hell out of him.

they probably lynched him:wow:

It was pretty obvious when that soldier of Stryker's was knifed into his heart outside the freezer door:cmad::woot:.

I consider this similar to most origin stories where the hero is not quite the hero we know from the books. This is his first outing as Iron Man, and he's pissed, more or less. He was held by them for months, so of course he's a little angry. I doubt he'll be shooting to kill in sequels, though if the threat is huge enough...

consider though, the likeliness of seeing warmachine in the sequel, who is in fact a soldier. i dont think the killing will be any different.
