New Animated Iron Man Series Coming To Disney

The president of Disney Channels Worldwide just let slip that an animated Iron Man series is apparently in development for the Marvel Universe block on Disney XD. Mark Julian - 6/21/2012

Speaking to THR about a number of topics, Gary Marsh, the president of Disney Channels Worldwide revealed an interesting sliver of info about what's coming down the pipeline on the animated Marvel front.

THR: Because Marvel is now part of Disney, are you looking into more Avengers series?

Marsh: Two months ago, we launched Marvel Universe on Disney XD, which became the exclusive home for new Marvel television content. We've developed Ultimate Spider-Man. Subsequent to the success of the Avengers movie, we've been developing a new Avengers Assemble. We're talking about a Hulk series and an Iron Man series, too. They're going to spend $150 million to $200 million to make these [movie] properties and then half of that to market them; I'm sitting here thinking, "Thank you, Lord, you've made me look good."

It's probably safe to assume that the Hulk series is most likely Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. but so far, this is our first hint at a new Iron Man animated show.

This announcement spells the end of Iron Man: Armored Adventures but that's not the least bit shocking as the program airs on Disney rival Nickelodeon and was a deal that was in place prior to the House of Mouse acquiring the House of Ideas.

I wonder if this new series features the same Iron Man as the one in Avengers Assemble.

OK now I'm interested in a new Iron Man series although I would have preferred someone else getting the spotlight for once i.e Captain America or Thor but I love Iron Man so I'm happy.

I wonder what tone this will take, hopefully it will be similar to the movie.

God, I hope it's better than Teen Iron Man. :o

I'm VERY leery about ANY new animated series coming from Marvel/Disney in the foreseeable future with all the stink being raised about them and the creative people in charge as of late...

That show was surprisingly decent, even with the unnecessary de-aging of the main three characters.

The 90's show? Now THAT was horrible, even if the second season had a kick-ass theme song.

Marvel needs to give us something for an older demographic and i don't want anime.

I like anime but their Marvel anime series were awful.

I just dont feel the Marvel U as a whole fits with anime.

I wonder if this means the Nick show will be cancelled after this season.

I wish Armored Adventures was still on. It was a great show and the animation was awesome.

Would be cool but I think still the show if it happens will probably be its own thing. Like armed adventures, and other current marvel shows. I am curious to see who ends up on the crew and animation style 2d/or cg show.

Also come on folks just cause usm is the way it was doesn't mean all future marvel shows will be that. Usm was made for the young kids and that demo/style. And the hulk show from what we heard is something like that.

But this ironman show is likely is very early stage, we have no producers, writers on. It and no info on tone/style the show will be. So let's not bash all future marvel shows just cause of usm faults.

It will be like Ultimate Spider-Man. Iron Man for Dummies. Just watch

Honestly I don't think so, they tried a particular direction with USM and it kind of failed but then they didn't know that when the new Hulk cartoon went into production and a second season of USM was already ordered.

Third season

Story Editor Brandon Auman says work for a third season is being talked about in December 2011 and specifically introducing Wolverine to the series if the third season is confirmed.
On May 25th 2012, James Harvey reported from Nicktoons that the 2012 finale will be a specific season end, and not a series end. "The network is slated to air new episodes of Iron Man: Armored Adventures weekly through the summer, up to the final episodes of the second season." Nicktoons has not confirmed when such third season will be released such as tie-in for the 2013 Iron Man 3 live action movie or 2014. No major plotline of such third season has been revealed.

Hmm... I guess it would depend on how soon Disney wants their show to start and how much time there would be between it and the Nicktoon show ending so there isn't a "clash." I haven't been following the dates of when the shows were announced and when the first aired to get an idea of a possible timeline of how things could go.

I've enjoyed the show and found it to be an interesting take on things. I'm still hoping we get to see them as adults or at least young adults.

You know, I feel like there are certain Marvel characters that could really work in anime. Ironman is the obvious choice (i havent seen recent ironman anime yet, is it good?). Characters like Daredevil and Ghost Rider and Luke Cage and Ironfist and Spider-man could translate very well into anime (especially Daredevil, imagine a Daredevil cartoon in the tone of DeathNote). Franchises like the Avengers and X-men...maybe not so much though.

The anime X-Men series was decent. The best out of the recent Marvel anime series which included Wolverine, Blade and Iron Man. Sad that the Japanese opening for the 90's cartoon is so much better than all four those series put together.

Look at all that potential.
