Has it already been ruled out there will be NO shared universe in MoS?

Just curious.

Right now, I dont think its too hard for the production/studios to pull a fast one and decide to go that route.

For DC, i'm actually a bigger advocate of stand-alone franchises.

they wont do it. They are going to sit back and watch and see how Avengers does, and then go back for "reshoots" if anything (on MoS)

but I think the directors have too much pride in themselves to allow a shared universe, so DC would have to force it.

I wouldn't mind a smaller scale shared universe.

A smaller scale movie like Supergirl or Superboy that MOS franchise references and shares auxiliary characters with like John Henry Irons or Intergang.

They could have a great shared universe just with the Superman Family if they wanted. Supergirl, Superboy, Steel, Legion of Super-Heroes, the works.

Is it possible? I don't see why not.

But is it likely...?

Nolan seems to be adamant that Superman should be the only superhero in his universe, in the same way that he approached Batman, and Snyder definitely seems to be on the same page.

Nolan reiterated that you won't be seeing a Batman/Superman crossover in his movies. "Marvel are doing what they do and people will respond to that really well, or they won't," said Nolan. "It's not something I ever really applied a blanket rule to, but Marvel characters are very different to DC characters, and the key DC characters are very different to the minor DC characters. You've got to go back to that element of, 'What do I see when I close my eyes and think of Batman? What do I see when I close my eyes and think of Superman?' And for me a big part of that is their individuality. They are extraordinary beings in an ordinary world. And the reason I think the two are fascinating is because Superman is very specifically superpowered and obviously otherworldly; Batman is very human and flawed. They're two very different characters, but there's an elemental feeling of power in the iconography of those characters. To me that's originally because they stood alone. I need to hang on to that in my imagining of them."

I just think a shared universe is way to ambitious of a concept for WB (at least at present time). They should just concentrate on getting the solo films right.

No, please! No shared DC universe for Supes please...

I don't think they'd do reshoots if Avengers does extremely well. They'll probably just plan to do a Justice League sooner rather than later.

I'd love a CGI JLA movie.

Assuming that Nolan has some form of control over this product, along with how Snyder feels about it, I don't think that we should expect to see Warner Bros. making MOS into a franchise where its superman lives in a world filled with other DC heroes, unless Snyder and Nolan leave the franchise since I can't see the two agreeing to have this version of superman live in a world filled with other DC heroes.

Nolan is right.

The DC characters are destined to never co-exist in the same universe.

It just won't work, especially with WB calling the shots.

Green Lantern was supposed to be the film that launched the DC shared universe, and it ended up collapsing it.

nothing to see here, move along, move along

Eh, not a fan of Whedon's work thus far on TV and film. I doubt I was going to see Cabin in the Woods anyway. Hopefully The Avengers will be the first thing I like or love from Joss' resume.

DC/WB needs to worry about getting Superman established first...then work on solo movies for their other properties and then once they have that taken care of they can start doing crossover or shared universe films and hopefully lead up to a Justice League film. The way they have been talking about doing a Justice League movie sucks in my eyes anyway.

If they were to include the MOS universe as part of a shared DC universe, do you think they would use a MOS sequel to introduce some JL characters that won't get their own stand alone film prior to a Justice League movie?

That would be a smart move...like Martian Manhunter

I like the Justice League but I don't want any shared universe references in MOS. There doesn't need to be any references and the only movie that should worry about tying things up would be an actual JL movie, if that ever happens. That should be the basis for any shared universe. AFTER a JL movie.

*IF* Avengers does really well, its gonna be funny watching WB trying to play catch up.....''why didn't WE do something like that sooner?'' they'll be asking themselves, which will get lots of eyerolls from the fans.

I'm not for or against it, but we all know they'll try to come up with something.

I would prefer no real lead up at all. Just solo films of DC's heavy-hitters. And if they feel it's time to do it then use a JL movie to show that they are in a shared universe.

I hope The Avengers bombs. Or at least doesn't do too well. :BA

Given Snyder and Nolan's stance on the issue, I'd say a shared universe is impossible for MoS.

Cavill's Superman will exist alone in his universe, just as Bale's Batman did.

I think you're going to be disapointed

They do tbh f they can make a ton of money off one character they're not gonna rush to team them up. Personally I don't think they need to build up to a JL movie they could just do one with the team in.

Personally I don't want a shared universe because I want Superman to be the first and most important superhero, which I realize is unfair to fans of the other characters.
