Is America still America?

Why is it irrelevant? Because you can't answer it?

Damn, Memphis, you are a freaking genius! You caught me dude. I just don't have the same mental capacity as you to be able to answer such a complex question. So does that make me a double moron?

Everybody's done something bad to somebody! Okay.....we got that...now...fastforward to the present! We got Islamic slave trade going on rigth now! http://www.domini.org/openbook/sud80210.htm
http://www.geocities.com/CollegePark/Classroom/9912/easterntrade.html
If there is slave trading going on, whether its Islamic or otherwise, then may be the U.S. such stop chasing imaginary WMD and stop known atrocities since we are the self proclaimed policemen of the world.

We don't need Sharia law in this country. Period. This is America.

Amen to this. Look at the countries that have Sharia (by the way, only a couple do) and so how they are faring.

All we need is do is support the law we do have: The American Constitution, instead of letting those who hate America erode our rights in the name of national security.

Bring your culture with you.

I haven't brought anything. My ancestors were African slaves and the native indigeous people of America.

But leave your old laws back wher you came from.

Who are you referring to? Do you really think that immigrant Muslims are the reason for the ongoing changes of America society? Wow! A mind is a terrible thing to waste. Take away all of the immigrant doctors, engineers, scientists, and others who represent a big part of the intellectual capital of America and see what happens to this country.

He has a good point though. It's rather unfair to villainize one nation when pretty much everyone else has done their fair share of ugly and bad things.

He may have a point but in responding to my post, he missed my point entirely.

The thread starter mentioned his fathers and uncles fighting for this country as though that makes it exclusively theirs.

But this country belongs to all people who are American citizens, including the decendents of African slaves and native Americans, and now people who immigrated from other parts of the world. Its no longer a Christian country for caucasians only. In fact, it was neither.

Just because the atocities of the past are mentioned doesn't mean its villainizing our nation. Our country is not a villian, even though it has and continues to commit many mistakes. But we do have some villians in power who should be removed. And I'm not just talking about the Bush Adminstration.

Moraldeficiency's point was that its not fair to mention it because everyone else have done it too.

But keeping with the context of this thread, we are not talking about everyone else. We are talking about America. And I don't give a damn if every society in the history of mankind has done, wrong.

America is destined to be much more than any society on the face of the Earth and much more than what we have produced over the past 200 years.

The America that we currently see is by no means the finished product. Its growing and evolving to something greater than has ever existed.

We cannot erase the dark periods of our history, but we should be striving towards an moral excelllence for all countries to follow. A model of excellence on every level that exists for a society.

And America's history and past wrongs have played and continues to play a very significant role in where we are now at and where we are heading as a society.

How are Muslims offended by the Holocaust?

It didn't happen to them.

I have had enough of all the changes for strangers to our country.

How can they stop saying the Pledge in our schools.

It's a shame and an insult. Don't come over here saying we have to stop our traditions that have been going on for years!

Would they like it if we went to another country and said they couldn't do their things.

Let's start a comic strip with Mohamed, or however you spell it, I don't care, but NO, that would cause all sorts of crap.

So does America have a back bone any more.

Just like how in Britain they can't talk about the Holocaust 'cause it upsets Muslims! What the Hell is that?!!! They just have to forget a part of history to suit them, just 'cause it upsets them. WTF!

That is enough!!!!

We have to keep our traditions, or we become something else.

I went into Walmart the other day and they didn't have soundtracks anymore, but they had a whole wall for mexican music!:cmad: And a whole section for mexican food.

I've asked before so, do you have Irish music or Polish music since you have that, and the answer is always, no.

So stupid. With all the ghetto crap, and spanish morons who don't even try to speak the language, and stopping our traditions, this country is going to hell.

My Uncles and Father didn't fight for this Country for nothing.:cmad:

You've been talked to about your racist comments before.....now you get 7 days probation....the next time you are banned.

This was on the news yesterday....I don't remember all the specifics...but basicly....England is planning on stopping teaching of the Holocaust due to complaints from the many Muslims in that country....the Muslims who are complaining are the ones who believe that the Holocaust was all a Jewish conspiracy to create the Country of Isreal....where all the fighting still continues between the two groups.

Oh I completely agree with you there, but I think that instead of focusing on the bad things that we've done in the past we should focus on the potentially good things we can do in the future and villainizing a country really doesn't help that.

You white folks are killing me.

America is nothing, and means nothing to me. Go to hell, my friend.

Please Look back a couple of posts...I just put one guy on probation and promised him a banning next time....you sure you want to make racist comments here?

Ah, so...it was C.Lee that closed that wonderful thread about whether or not I'm a jerk.
Maybe if I was a mod like Dew I could have just one thread about me that doesn't get closed.
And I was just about to offer an olive branch to Mr. Smash'n'Bash too. :csad:

That is just f**king ******ed. People's personal beleifs, especially racist ones such as that, shouldn't get in the way of teaching the FACTS to people.

Something like the Holocaust should not be ignored. It happened no matter how many Muslims, Mel Gibsons, Ahmedinjads (how ever you spell his name) and neo-Nazis say it didn't.

Society these days is forming a double standard, and this is comming from an athiest mind you, if anything is offensive to Christianity and Judaisim it's alright, but anything else is unacceptable. What a f**king hypocrisy.

America has indeed fallen appart, they fear everything, dont know anything and some people say "deal with it".When they should say "lets do something about it".

Someone should quote my post in their signature.

No one should put any of your damn statements as their signature. You know why?

Because you act like a jackass by pretending to know about American culture and politics when you know absolutely nothing about it. Your posts are nothing more than mini-"I hate America" rants. They're filled with inaccuracies. They're idiotic assumptions and generalizations. And I'm not the only one who feels that way.

I agree about "The Pledge Of Allegiance". It's stupid that everyone is making a big deal over one section of it. If a person doesn't feel comfortable about saying "Under God", then simply stay silent when that part comes up. It's nothing to get worked up over.

Of course, now all the non-believers will gang up on me and say that it imposes Christianity and religion, thus furthering the misconception that God and religion are one in the same, which isn't really true. At all.

People that move to America need to learn to speak English. It's racist when America sets up an official language but when France or German does it it's okay? Canada has a law that says that everything has to be in English and French. Let's do the same thing without the French in it.

Disregarding your Mexican soundtrack points, some of your other points you make goes with my theory about the *****fication of America. I think it was around the early to mid 90's where society started listen to the minority few who got upset as opposed to the majority who didn't.

Now we live in a society where we can't upset the person next to us, or else they are going to write a letter, or boycott or worse yet sue.

We live in a country where people have given up on giving out 1st place trophies in exchange for trophies for everyone because we can't kids feel bad if they lose. Then they might not grow up right and sue.

I am kinda sick of having to adjust my life just because a few people are offended what they see on tv, or on the radio. Too many people are seriously such a waste of oxygen that they need to complain about something just to complain.

Some things come to mind over the past few years.

Star Wars Attack of the Clones, criticism that clones were an attack of Mexican immigration and claiming that Fett even looked Hispanic, he was a New Zealander actually.

The 2 guys kissing during that Snickers commerical.

And the one that just took censorship to a whole new level was Janet Jackson's boob being exposed during the Super Bowl.

Who cares? Evidently 20 people who seem to be able to make broadcasters, advertisers, studios, networks, sh't themsevles in response. :down x 1,000,000
Man, I couldn't agree with you more.
I bet someone could sue the greeting card company, because fathers day makes them sad that their dad's deceased.

to what end?

I’m not talking about arresting immigrants for talking to each other in another language or anything like that. But I think that if we make it harder to live in America without being able to speak English they’d be more inclined to work harder to learn it. Back in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s almost nothing was bilingual. That isn’t the case anymore so immigrants don’t think they have to learn as fast.

ok, I can understand that you wnat them to learn, but keep in mind that in the 1800's and such, the fact that nothing was bilingual resulted in highly insular Immigrant communities.
