Yep. The reactionary whining and forewarnings of doom are just childish.

And those are legitimate concerns....nothing wrong with having concerns, I do to, as do many, but to deem it a flop or just saying your not gonna see it is quite foolish if you ask me hero

Thank you.

I mean, honestly, I get that I can be a pain in the ass myself at times when I'm at my lowest when it comes to my viewpoint of this franchise, but I don't think I've sunk as low as a certain other poster here.:oldrazz:

I do think that some of these concerns that I bring up are somewhat legitimate and we've had examples with other comic book films where the fame of the stars have influenced on how their characters are portrayed, in contrast to what they're known for in the comics.

I've never thought of you as pain Hero....honestly, your one of the many few posts I read on these forums..:)....and I wasnt pointing at you when I made my comment, but yea I agree....lol I know WB and crew are not loved by many lol, but getting Affleck I think(especially now) is a good move. I'm sure there's going to be balance in power...at least we hope...:)

I've always said Batman's casting should be "out of the box" and I think this qualifies as such. No one saw it coming and Affleck wasn't on the ridiculous list of pretty boys that some people were campaigning for. Let's see what he can do!

Good attitude, shape.

You have no right to be positive. This is the internet. :yay:

So Roven and Snyder are Co producing this one. I guess that means Nolan is out.

I am optimistic for the first time with this turn of events.

First, its confirmed this is a Batman/Superman film and having that settled is a relief in a way.

Second, Ben is a solid actor and well known. He will give this film a bigger boost IMO than many of the other actors suggested. Bale excepted of course.

Third is the probability Ben will have creative input into Batman vs Superman - he is a better director/writer/creative person than Snyder IMO.

Fourth WB is really shaking things up. Some may disagree, but I'd like to see a Bruce/Lois romance. I think Ben and Amy could have great chemistry. So who knows what's in store with the screenplay but if Ben has input I see that as a Goyer co-writer which I have wanted from day one.

Fifth is this likely pushes the WB DC universe ahead in a more positive way than Snyder would have. If WF is a big success and Ben is seen as a large part of that I can see WB basically giving autonomous creative control not to just the coming Batman films and JL, but to the whole DC universe. Not a DC Studios - which is my dream - but the next best thing.

You know what would be awesome? If WB brought on Affleck just to act, and then as a (more) successful and well-respected writer/producer/director/fanboy/major-Hollywood-mover, he just took over the whole dang operation.

Yup. I thought only Bale could spark my interest in the new movie, but Affleck not only sparks my interest but increases my down in the dumps expectations for the movie. I really hope he has positive input on the writing and directing. I hope that's part of the reason they cast him. I think he'll do fine as Batman as well.

With the Affleck casting, I'm actually halfway rooting for the movie. I want him to prove a lot of naysayers wrong, if he does it right.

Still a bit of trepidation in terms of story and script though.

Meh; I just want Superman to be portrayed well and as Batman's equal than his puppet or subordinate in this film.

I'm excited to see how Batman/Superman will look together, I'm excited to see the villains and the posters, the promotional materials. WB usually have a good art department, so I'm confident the characters will look cool and the film will look visually appealing.

I just hope that they in the coming months, as production and marketing begins for this film, people don't forget that the focus is also on Superman and that it shouldn't be entirely on Batman as it is now.

The only way I'd be able to get behind this is if they scrapped Snyder as director and let Affleck do it. Snyder's a pretty good director who makes bad choices sometimes (Suckerpunch, Man of Steel). Affleck is a great director who makes world class Oscar winning films.

Let Snyder handle the cgi sequences and Affleck can handle everything else.

Let's not forget that it was Snyder that gave us the great cast that we had in MOS and honestly, for all of its flaws that MOS has, it was still much better than any past director's attempts to bring Superman back to the big screen. I think Snyder is only as great of a director as the scripts that he works with and if Goyer had made a better script, then we would have gotten a better film as well imho.

Same here. I hate conventional wisdom. Mostly cuz it's so, y'know, conventional.

Affleck is a decent writer, a good actor, a better director and has geek credentials -- an inspired choice because he could be Warner Bros' answer to Joss Whedon. With him now on board the DC cinematic universe, he could be up for directing Justice League, officially, and generally guide the universe.

An Affleck-Snyder creative collaboration is awesome to think about. Both are geeks and don't seem to have those disruptive egos.

And so begins the period where everything Batman takes center stage of this film's production.

This is exactly what I, along with many others feared regarding Batman's involvement in this film, that the focus would no longer be on Superman but on everything and anything involving Batman, and it doesn't help that they chose Ben, who's selection for the role has gained even more focus on Batman than Superman.

If this is what we can expect for the coming months, and the film itself, then I think it's safe to say that Batman has screwed Superman.

The thing is, MoS was clearly not written to lead into a team up film. The end of MoS, 'Welcome to the Planet Clark' beautifully set up a Man of Steel 2 and nothing more. People are now saying this team up movie has been in the works for a while longer then people initially thought, but its only been around a short time compared to how long ago MoS was filmed, and written, which years and years ago, i.e before Avengers.

So now I hope this film has time to satisfyingly show the Clark we were teased with at the end of MoS, and for him to actually be this symbol of hope that people can get behind. Because if he's going to contrast Batman in any way, he really needs to be that symbol of hope the film talked about so much, but didn't actually leave much room for itself to explore.
