Is anyone else sick of the console wars already?

Urgh. I'm catching up with some friends this weekend. They're going to want to talk about it.

I just like playing video games

not alone there, i'm not fussed on either console atm, having them crammed down your throat everyday doesn't help persuade people like me to buy it, it turns them away

perfectly content with the consoles i have atm

PS3 vs 360 console wars lasted pretty much its entire run. So have fun the next 6-7 years. Then you have everyone with the usual Nintendo quote 'Its 'gathering' dust!'

The console wars did not begin with the PS3 and 360. This is a war that's been raging before some of us were even born.

Old, dull and completely stupid -but as with anything, the angry and dumb will always be louder than those who are content. Most gamers just want to chill out and have fun. Some folks aren't happy unless they're arguing about something, all the better if that something is totally devoid of any real meaning or purpose.

I've never been one to participate in the "console wars", even going all the way back to the SNES and Genesis. But it's something I've always appreciated from a distance. I love the passion and energy, and yes even the stupidity, it brings out in people.

I always find it fun to sling mud or talk trash, with damn near anything, but with the consoles iv never really been able to as i end up with all the consoles from each generation. Last gen(or well this current gen whatever the hell it is now) was the first time i didnt own one of Nintendos consoles(did have a 3DS briefly though). I doubt ill own a Nintendo console in this upcoming gen, unless Nintendo releases a Wii U 2.0 that can actually compete with the PS4 and XB1 but i most certainly will have the PS4 and XB1 and I'm promising myself ill get a gaming PC(maybe one of those steam boxes?)

But iv always found it pretty stupid to be passionate about any piece of technology....unless its Apple, if its Apple thats ok. Jobs is God.

I've been sick&tired of console wars for years even before PS3 and the 360

^This.

It's been Atari and Coleco, then Nintendo and Sega and now Sony and Microsoft.

It's competition for the consumer dollar. It's always gonna be there.

At least before you could own two systems without having to pay a subscription fee. Now you do for most online multiplayer games (PS4) and that and more (Xbox One). With PS3 it was less essential to pay for PS+ than it is now with PS4. I'm just using the launch prices here and the default prices for the subscription services:

PS4 $400 + ($50 PS+ * 7 years) = $750
XBO $500 + ($60 XBLG * 7 years) = $920

So I'm sure the amount of people owning and paying for both systems and their services will be less than the PS3/Xbox 360 generation. More "console warfare" fodder making things worse. It's better when people just own multiple systems.

For me, the console wars have always been the realm of the internet. None of my friends have really gotten into fights/debates over the consoles. We mostly just play games wherever they interest us. Some of us are solely Playstation or XBox owners, however, we've all traded consoles with each other when there was a game one of us wanted to play on a system we didn't own.

It died down in the last year or two, BUUUUT then the PC guys came out & started bashing console gamers.

I couldn't care less about console wars. Especially it won't change my preference with buying and using Sony's Playstation consoles.

I know it didn't start with the Xbox versus playstation days but I just feel like we're all a bit older now and we can just enjoy games without taking snipes at each other.

Good to know I'm not the only one tired of it though!

It's especially stupid now because they're really the same machine. I have a gaming PC and a WiiU and I won't need anything else. My PC is better than the X1 and PS4 and I built it 2 years ago. WiiU lets me play exclusive console games that are actually different.

That's the thing, video game consoles are practically PCs now, they even use some of the same parts. I think in twenty years, we'll just have one machine that does it all (computer, smart TV, video games, etc)... and a Nintendo of some kind.

That's what i do now. Console wars are dumb and I love in the new south park episode how the Ms CEO is the only one to say that

This entire post is a walking contradiction.

I don't think too many people take it seriously.

I'm very loyal to Sony, have been ever since PS1. But even I have to laugh at some of the anti-playstation gifs X-box fans post.

So yeah, the so-called console wars don't bother me. The hatred is as real as pro-wrestling.

I do think the competition between the two systems does yield better games for everyone.

So lets keep the mud-slinging going.

The last few weeks, I haven't picked up a controller or even thought about doing so. I might be video-gamed out. The urge will come back later, maybe.
